Anna University Rape Case-Women’s Commission Committee begins investigation: Team reaches university; Questions were raised on the FIR, the victim’s clothes were considered objectionable.

The Fact Finding Committee of the National Commission for Women reached Anna University on Monday for investigation.

Investigation into Chennai’s Anna University rape case has started. The fact finding team constituted by the Women’s Commission reached the university on Monday. The team will interact with university officials, the victim, her family and NGOs.

On the other hand, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party chief and actor Vijay has come to meet Tamil Nadu Governor CT Ravi. Earlier, he described the incident as painful and said – Police has arrested one accused, but if someone else is also involved in this, then action should be taken against him also.

A second year engineering student was raped at Anna University at 8 pm on 23 December. This matter was heard in the Madras High Court on 28 December. The vacation bench of Justice SM Subramaniam and Justice V Lakshminarayana heard two PILs.

The court had said that it is written in the police FIR that the victim was wearing such clothes which could have led to the commission of the crime. Apart from this, other things have been written that the victim’s right to dignity and right to privacy has been violated. Police need to be a little sensitive.

What has happened till now…

December 28: Hearing in Madras High Court, the court reprimanded the police. Madras High Court had said during the hearing that the victim is a student and her age is only 19 years. Is it not the duty of the SHO to assist the victim in registering the FIR. Such things have been written in the FIR that boys study secretly in hostels.

The High Court termed the incident of FIR leaking as unfortunate. The bench said that this caused embarrassment to the victim. He has suffered more mental pain. The bench also ordered the state government to pay a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the victim. Madras High Court formed a committee of 3 women IPS officers to investigate.

December 27: BJP President protested by flogging himself Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai protested against the state government on Friday morning. For the demonstration he whipped himself six times. He said that the accused is a DMK leader. He is being saved.

He said in Coimbatore – I will not wear any footwear until DMK is out of power. He also announced a fast of 48 days to visit all the 6 Dhams of Lord Murugan.

26 December: The photo of the accused with Deputy CM Udhayanidhi went viral. Politics has started after the pictures of the accused surfaced with Deputy CM Stalin. BJP leaders and workers protested demanding the resignation of CM MK Stalin. Palaniswami, the state’s main opposition party All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary, said it was shameful. This incident shows how bad the law and order situation has become.

The photo of the rape accused has also surfaced with Deputy CM Udhayanidhi. Regarding which the opposition is criticizing the state government.

December 25: Accused arrested, more than 15 cases including rape already registered Police said that the accused sells biryani on the footpath outside Gnanasekharan University campus. A case of raping a girl is also registered against him in 2011. Apart from this, 15 criminal cases including robbery are registered against him. Police suspect that the accused may have objectionable videos of many other people in his mobile, which are being investigated.

December 23: The girl’s friend was beaten, chased away and raped.
