Army vehicle falls into ditch in Bandipora, Jammu and Kashmir, 4 soldiers killed, two injured


Bandipora:

Four army soldiers died in a road accident in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir. Besides, two soldiers have also been injured in this accident. The accident occurred on Saturday near Wular View Point in SK Pine area. An army vehicle slipped off the road and fell into a deep ditch. After the accident, the injured were immediately taken to the local hospital and later referred to Srinagar. The condition of the soldiers injured in the accident also remains critical. The Army said in its official statement that while on duty in Bandipora district, an Indian Army vehicle slipped and fell into a ditch due to bad weather and poor visibility.

Due to snowfall at many places in Jammu and Kashmir, roads have become quite slippery. According to the information, the army vehicle slipped and fell into a deep ditch. There were a total of six soldiers in this vehicle. Of these, four have died. The condition of two is also said to be serious.

Expressed condolences to the bereaved families

Army’s Chinar Corps said in a post on ‘X’ that an Indian Army vehicle slipped and fell into a ditch due to bad weather and low visibility conditions while on duty in Bandipora district.

Also said, “The injured soldiers were immediately taken out for medical care with the help of local Kashmiri people.” We express our gratitude to the citizens who provided immediate assistance.” He also expressed his condolences to the bereaved families of the soldiers who lost their lives in the accident.

The army had earlier confirmed the death of three soldiers in the accident. However, shortly after this, the army confirmed the loss of another soldier.

Injured were referred to Srinagar

Medical Superintendent of Bandipora District Hospital, Masrat Iqbal Wani said after the accident that the injured have been referred to Srinagar for treatment. He said that after receiving information about the accident, an ambulance was immediately sent to the spot.

After the accident, the injured soldiers were immediately taken to a local hospital and later referred to a hospital in Srinagar for better medical treatment.

Condition of two injured is critical

The condition of two soldiers injured in the accident also remains critical. The army vehicle was badly damaged after falling into the ditch.

After receiving information about the incident, the army and police reached the spot. Rescue operation was started immediately on the spot. With the help of local Kashmiris, the injured soldiers were taken out of the trench and taken to the local hospital through ambulance.
