Asaram was arrested by Jodhpur Police from the ashram in Indore in 2013. Since then Asaram was in jail. After a five-year long trial, on April 25, 2018, the court sentenced Asaram to life imprisonment. Now he will come out of jail on bail after 11 years.
Bail granted on these 3 conditions
- Asaram cannot meet his followers.
- Will not even try to tamper with the evidence of the case.
- Three guards will remain with him, the expenses of which will have to be borne by Asaram.
Asaram had filed a petition in the High Court Earlier on January 7, the Supreme Court had granted bail to Asaram till March 31 in the case of rape of a female follower in Surat’s ashram. While giving the verdict on bail, the Supreme Court had said that Asaram cannot meet his followers.
He will not even try to tamper with the evidence of the case. Asaram did not get relief in the Jodhpur rape case. After this, Asaram’s lawyer had filed a petition in the High Court. Got a big relief after the hearing in the High Court today. Now interim bail has been granted till March 31.
Asaram guilty in 2 cases: Also guilty in the decisions of Jodhpur and Gandhinagar courts.
Jodhpur Court: Asaram was arrested by Jodhpur Police from his ashram in Indore on 2 September 2013. Since then Asaram is in jail. After a five-year long trial, on April 25, 2018, the court sentenced Asaram to life imprisonment.
Gandhinagar Court: A rape case was filed against Asaram by a woman from the ashram in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. On January 31, 2023, the court had sentenced Asaram to life imprisonment in this case.
Had demanded female doctor in jail Medical checkup was done before Asaram was sent to Jodhpur Central Jail. He was healthy then. He did not have any disease. Only a month after going to jail, Asaram had mentioned for the first time about his Trinadi colic disease.
While filing the petition on September 4, 2013, he had said – ‘I have been suffering from a disease called Trinadi colic for about 13 and a half years. Female doctor Neeta was treating me for the last 2 to 3 years. Neeta should be allowed to come to the Central Jail for 8 days for my treatment. On this, Asaram was checked by the medical board. The doctor did not find any such disease.
