Avalanche hit Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday morning. Earlier there was snowfall of up to 2 feet in this area. At present there is no information about any damage due to avalanche.
Apart from Gulmarg, snowfall occurred in many districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this, Mughal Road, Srinagar-Leh Road, Semthan-Kishtwar Road and Gurez Highway were closed.
According to the Meteorological Department, there will be a possibility of snowfall here for 2 to 3 days. On the other hand, along with snowfall, an alert for rain has also been issued in Himachal Pradesh.
Due to snowfall in these states, the effect of severe cold is being seen in the rest of the states of North India. Today, dense fog was seen in 16 states of the country in the morning.
The Meteorological Department said that visibility reduced to zero in some districts of Punjab, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Due to this many flights were delayed. In UP alone, 25 flights and many trains were delayed.
25 people have died in the last 48 hours due to cold in Uttar Pradesh. 10 died in the last 24 hours. Cold wave alert was issued in 20 districts of Bihar including Katihar and Purnia.
Rajasthan will also be affected by cold winds for the next 3 days. Today, cold wave alert has been issued in 6 districts of the state. Holidays have also been declared in schools in 20 districts.
