B.Ed Course: One-year B.Ed course will start again from the academic session 2025. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has approved it. The one-year B.Ed course was discontinued in 2014. According to the recommendations of NEP 2020, it will be started again after 10 years with some new conditions. One year B.Ed course can be done by those students who have either completed four years of graduation or will be eligible for this course after post graduation. In the meeting of the governing body of NCTE held last Saturday, many other major decisions have been taken regarding teaching courses including one year B.Ed. New regulations of governing body have been given to be brought by 2025. The new approval regulations will also replace the 2014 regulations.
Two year B.Ed course by 2030
NCTE has decided to close two-year BA-B.Ed and B.Sc-B.Ed courses from next year. In its place the new Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) has been implemented. NCTE has stopped recognizing the two-year B.Ed course from 2024. Two-year B.Ed will be abolished by 2030 and focus will be on implementing ITEP from the year 2025-26.
Four year B.Ed studies have started
The four-year Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) is currently running in 64 educational institutions in India. Where students do B.Ed in the subject of their choice. Now specialized streams like ITEP Yoga, Physical, Sanskrit, Performing Arts Education will be added. ITEP is a four-year dual integrated graduation degree, currently offered in BA B.Ed., B.Com B.Ed. and B.Sc.-B.Ed.
