Islamabad: Amidst tensions from India, Bangladesh has taken another big step towards deepening friendship with Pakistan. Bangladesh has decided to start direct air service between the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations with Pakistan. The High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Pakistan on Sunday announced a plan to start a direct air service between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
According to The Express Tribune, Mohammad Iqbal Hussain on Saturday emphasized deep and historical relations between the two countries during a press conference in Peshawar. Also expressed his intention to start direct flights to the convenience of travel and connectivity. He said that such a step will increase cooperation between Bangladesh and Pakistan in various fields including tourism, education and trade. However, no deadline has been declared for direct flights.
Claims to further strengthen relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan
The High Commissioner of Bangladesh claimed to further strengthen Dhaka’s relations with Pakistan in the coming time. Highlighting the growing trade and diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan, the High Commissioner said that these relations will continue to strengthen. He underlined Bangladesh’s commitment to freedom of expression. He underlined how social media has given the younger generation the right to raise voice for their rights, which has contributed to a strong culture of free speech in the country. This led to a change in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh will invest in health and industrial service
Hussain pointed to Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in healthcare and huge investment opportunities, to encourage businesses to find out these routes. He also mentioned the demand for Bangladeshi products in Pakistan. Said that trade is going on between the two countries through shipping routes connecting Chittagong and Karachi, although the quantity remains modest. The High Commissioner also spoke on the upcoming elections in Bangladesh and reiterated his country’s focus on economic development as a major priority.
Both countries will also become allies in defense sector
According to the report by The Express Tribune, he appreciated Pakistan’s Air Force for extraordinary capabilities in the defense sector and announced to become its associates. Since the collapse of Sheikh Hasina Wajid’s government, there has been a significant improvement in relations between the two countries. Recently, a senior Bangladesh military officer visited Pakistan and met the service heads separately to find cooperation in the defense sector. (AP)
