Now if Team India goes on a foreign tour, it will travel there by bus only. If the tour is of 45 or more days, the families and wives will be able to stay together only for 14 days, not during the entire tour.
BCCI has implemented these new rules after the 3-1 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Its purpose is to increase bonding among the team and focus on the game.
Earlier it was reported that BCCI has decided to implement these rules during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai, but now PTI has reported that the board is considering it.
During the Australia tour, many senior players were seen traveling in their own car and the families of players like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were with them throughout the tour.

New changes for Team India
- Dainik Jagran quoted a BCCI office official as saying that the board has re-implemented the rules abolished during Covid-19.
- Families and wives will not be able to travel with the players during the entire tour. Especially on foreign tours, this rule will work more so that the performance of the players is not affected. For tours of less than 45 days, families and wives will be able to stay together for 7 days.
- Keeping in mind the unity of the team, no player will be allowed to travel in his own car, no matter how big a player he is.
Action will be taken against Gambhir’s manager Coach Gautam Gambhir’s manager Gaurav Arora was seen traveling with Team India. This had never happened before. BCCI has taken strict action against this. Now Arora will not be allowed to stay in the team hotel. They will not be able to sit even in the VIP box. He has also not been allowed to travel by team bus.
Coach Gautam Gambhir had posted this photo with manager Gaurav Arora on his birthday on 19 October 2024.
Suggestion to cut salary, no decision yet The Indian Express quoted a source as saying that a suggestion to cut salaries was also made during the AGM. That means, if the performance is not good then the player’s salary can be cut. Its purpose is to make the player aware of his responsibilities. This has not been decided yet.
