Shimla: Light to moderate snowfall occurred in the tribal and high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh while people in the low lying areas appeared to be in the grip of cold wave. The Meteorological Department gave this information on Friday. According to the department, there was dense fog in Bilaspur, Sundernagar and Mandi. According to the information received from the Meteorological Department, there will be heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh till January 23.

According to the local weather office, in the last 24 hours since Thursday morning, Kothi recorded 24 centimeters (cm) of snowfall while Manali recorded 14.8 cm, Gondla 11 cm, Moorang 10 cm, Jot 7 cm, Kalpa 6.7 cm, 5 cm in Khadrala, 4.5 cm in Pooh, 4.2 cm in Sangla, 4 cm each in Keylong and Chhatrari and Kufri received 2.4 cm snowfall.
According to the department, light rain occurred at a few places, including 10 millimeters (mm) in Bharmour, 8.2 mm in Seobag, eight mm in Jogindernagar, 7.1 mm in Bhuntar, 6.3 mm in Saloni, six mm in Gohar, 5.5 mm in Bajaura, There was five mm rainfall in Rohru and Dharamshala, 4.2 mm rainfall in Palampur and four mm rainfall in Ghumarwin and Pandoh.

Severe cold wave conditions were observed in Una and Hamirpur while cold wave continues in Barthin and Kangra. How will the weather be till 23 January?
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in the state is not going to provide relief at present. There is a possibility of snowfall again in the hilly areas from 18 to 23 January. Along with this, the cold wave will continue.
Western disturbance is expected to reach North-West India from January 18 while another disturbance is expected on January 22. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain or snowfall at many places on January 23 and light to moderate rain or snowfall at some places in the central and high mountain areas on January 21 and 22. According to the department, the maximum temperature is likely to increase by five to six degrees in the next two days, after which the temperature will gradually fall by four to five degrees in the next three to four days.
