Jayalalithaa’s niece reached Supreme Court, petition to withdraw property

Among the legal heirs of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, niece J Deepa has challenged the Karnataka High Court’s 13 January order. Deepa has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the order in which Jayalalithaa refused to return the movable and immovable property seized in the case of disproportionate assets of crores.

Deepa says that according to the Supreme Court’s decision in 2017, the proceedings have ended, so Jayalalithaa cannot be convicted. That is, their seized property should be returned.

Deepa has challenged the High Court’s decision of 13 January and the Special Court’s 29 January order. The petition also sought an interim restriction on their orders.

Counting starts in Erode Assembly seat of Tamil Nadu, 46 candidates fought elections
