BPSC Student Protest: There is an atmosphere of tension over the demand for cancellation of the 70th preliminary examination of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). On Sunday, police lathicharged and water cannoned the BPSC candidates who were protesting in Patna. This incident created heat in political circles and the name of IPS Sweety Sehrawat came into the headlines. During this demonstration, the police team was led by IPS Sweety Sehrawat, who is currently the SP of Central Patna. He was promoted to this post in 2024. Sweety Sehrawat, a 2020 batch Bihar cadre officer, started her career as ASP (Assistant Superintendent of Police) in Aurangabad district. Sweety Sehrawat belongs to an ordinary family. His father was a constable in Delhi Police, who died in a road accident in 2013. Her father wished that his daughter should pass UPSC and become an officer. Fulfilling this dream, Sweety achieved the honor of becoming an IPS by securing All India 187th rank in the UPSC exam in 2019. His educational background is that of an engineer. He did B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Delhi Technological University. After this she worked as a design engineer in a company, but to fulfill her father’s dream, she started preparing for the Civil Services Examination and was successful. This is not the first time that IPS Sweety Sehrawat has come into the limelight. In September 2024, a video of hers went viral, in which she was talking to former Kerala Governor and former DGP Nikhil Kumar. Nikhil Kumar had met him regarding the increasing incidents of theft. During this, Sweety had said that she does not meet everyone at her residence, because there is a thing called privacy. This time the lathi charge incident has once again brought him into the headlines.
