BSP chief Mayawati’s party is going through the most difficult phase these days. BSP’s performance is continuously deteriorating election after election. In the last Lok Sabha elections, the party’s account was not even opened, neither did BSP get any benefit from the alliance, nor was the formula of contesting the elections on its own successful. Two-four MLAs of BSP were elected in states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, but now the party’s performance there too has become zero.
BSP is in trouble even in its strongest bastion Uttar Pradesh. Mayawati has been the Chief Minister of UP four times, but now the party’s vote share has come down to only 9.4%. In such a situation, the question arises that what is going on in Mayawati’s mind and what steps will she take to rescue the party from the crisis.
Mayawati’s biggest concern: saving her Dalit vote bank.
Mayawati’s biggest concern now is to save her traditional vote bank, especially Dalit voters. Her Dalit vote bank is getting fragmented, which she is trying to save. BJP and Samajwadi Party have a good hold in the non-Jatav vote bank, while Congress is busy attracting Jatav voters towards itself. The biggest challenge for him is from Chandrashekhar Azad, who himself has become a Lok Sabha MP. In the recently held assembly by-elections, his party performed better than BSP and won three seats. The trend of young Dalit voters has now started moving from BSP towards Azad Samaj Party. Perhaps this is the reason why Mayawati has handed over the responsibility of number two in the party to her nephew Akash Anand. To attract young voters towards himself, he has also started working on this.
BSP chief Mayawati brought her second nephew Ishaan Anand along for the first time on her 69th birthday. He called Ishaan near him and also got a photo clicked with him. In this picture, Akash Anand was standing on the right side of Mayawati and Ishaan Anand was standing after her. The BSP chief himself decided who would stand where in the photo. But after 24 hours there was a change in Ishaan’s position. Today Mayawati reached the same place with her two nephews, but this time she kept Akash Anand on the left and Ishaan Anand on the right. This time Satish Chandra Mishra was also standing with Ishaan.
Ishaan Anand’s position changed in 24 hours
Ishaan Anand’s position in the photo with Mayawati changed within 24 hours, but now the question is being raised whether there can be some big change for him in politics. For the first time, Mayawati called Ishaan Anand to the BSP meeting, which was the meeting of BSP leaders of UP. District president level leaders of the party were also invited in this meeting.
In the meeting, Ishaan Anand kept watching and listening silently to everything, while Mayawati was seen training him in politics and teaching him the ABCD of organization. This was the first time that Ishaan had attended a BSP meeting. Mayawati also introduced him to the party leaders.
Will Ishaan Anand get big responsibility?
Has Mayawati decided any special role for Ishaan Anand in BSP? Now the question is arising whether Mayawati has made any special plan for her nephew Ishaan Anand in BSP? Mayawati’s elder nephew Akash Anand is already in BSP and his status in the party is considered to be the most powerful leader after Mayawati. He also has the responsibility of Delhi elections, and in December 2023, he was declared by Mayawati as her successor. Although, in the last Lok Sabha elections, he was removed for some time by calling him an immature leader, but now again he was made the National Coordinator.
Now the question is whether Mayawati is planning a bigger role for her younger nephew Ishaan Anand in the party. Even after the meeting of BSP leaders of UP is over, Mayawati has not made any formal announcement about Ishaan, but it is certain that he can soon become a new power center in the party.
‘Neither am I tired, nor am I retired’
By the way, Mayawati had once said that not the family but only an ordinary Jatav worker of the party would become her successor. However, principles keep changing in politics and the question still remains that who will succeed Mayawati in BSP? Mayawati herself answers this question – “Neither I am tired, nor retired.”
