ISRO will launch a communication satellite of the American company in February-March this year.

Soon mobile calls can be made directly from space. India’s space agency ISRO will play an important role in this. ISRO will launch an American communication satellite in February-March this year, with the help of which calls can be made directly from space through any smartphone.

Currently, for internet and voice calls from space, one has to have a special handset or a special terminal. This is a completely commercial launch. This will be executed by ISRO’s commercial wing New Space India Limited (NSIL).

According to media reports, the satellite is being launched for Texas company AST Spacemobile. This is also the first time that an American company is launching a huge communication satellite from India. India has so far launched only small satellites of American companies.

Bluebird will be placed in low earth orbit with Bahubali rocket AST Spacemobile CEO Abel Avellan had last year announced the launch of ‘Bluebird’s ‘Block 2 satellite’ via Geo-Synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV).

Bluebird satellites are a constellation of satellites designed to provide cellular broadband (mobile phone network) connectivity from space to smartphones.

This is a part of the company’s spacemobile communication system. A Bluebird satellite will have an antenna of 64 square meters, which is equal to half a football field. The weight of the satellite will be around 6000 kg.

It will be installed in low Earth orbit. According to sources, India’s Bahubali rocket i.e. Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (LVM-3) will be used to launch this satellite.

Claim- World’s first space-based cellular broadband network This satellite-based direct to mobile connectivity technology will compete directly with existing service providers like Starlink and OneWeb. Both companies use very large satellite networks to provide broadband Internet connectivity in space.

At the same time, according to ISRO experts, AST Spacemobile wants to launch big satellites, hence the company will be able to work only with a small network.

The company claims that its technology has been designed to connect directly to the mobile phone. This will make them the world’s first and only space-based cellular broadband network. Cellular broadband network refers to the mobile phone network.

There will be no need to change service providers The company says- Our target is to provide cellular broadband all over the world. We want to provide connectivity to people even where traditional networks cannot reach. This will open up many opportunities in many fields including education, social networking, healthcare.

To use our service (direct call from space), there will be no need to change your service providers (mobile network providing companies like Airtel, Vodafone). For this we are working with mobile network operators around the world.
