Car worth ₹ 4 crore, rent of ₹ 25 lakh, luxuries of 5 star hotel: Seeing the vanity van of Prashant Kishor, who is on hunger strike, everyone’s eyes were wide eyed, angry when questions were raised.

Jan Suraj Party chief Prashant Kishor is sitting on a fast unto death at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on the issue of examination. A luxury vanity van worth crores of rupees is parked at the place of his death itself, in which he goes to rest and go to the bathroom etc. There has been a political stir regarding this van modeled after Bollywood stars. He is terming the movement as misleading to the beneficiaries and students.

State spokesperson of Bihar’s main opposition party RJD, Ajaz Ahmed, said that Prashant Kishor is diverting the movement of BPSC candidates in another direction. Ahmed alleged that they were using a vanity van with luxury facilities. The daily expenditure of this vanity van is Rs 25 lakh. Ahmed said that Prashant Kishor is not a public movement leader but is a beneficiary.

A video of him has also surfaced on social media, in which Prashant Kishor is coming out of the vanity van and going to the fast site. At the same time, hundreds of people are looking at his luxury vanity van. Security personnel are also seen deployed in the video to ensure that no one can go near the vanity van. Many people were seen taking pictures or making videos of the van.

BJP and RJD claim that the cost of this vanity van is around Rs 4 crore and Prashant Kishore pays Rs 25 lakh as rent per day. It has all the facilities of a 5 star hotel. There is everything from luxurious beds to toilet, Wi-Fi, TV etc. It has all the amenities. This vanity van has been standing there ever since Prashant Kishor was sitting on a fast at Gandhi Maidan.

Prashant Kishor got angry on the question of vanity van. He said that there is a vanity van parked at Gandhi Maidan, but he is carrying out his fast under the open sky. He said, “Which vanity van are you talking about? There is a bus parked here, which I use to relieve myself.” He said, “Those who are saying that the fare of this bus is Rs 25 lakh, I am sending this bus to them and they should give me Rs 25 lakh every day.”

RJD spokesperson also alleged that Prashant Kishore’s politics of such comforts has been exposed. He alleged that Prashant Kishore first brought the students’ Satyagraha movement from Gardnibagh to Gandhi Maidan and got the students beaten and now while living in luxury facilities, he is pretending to be with the students in the movement. He called it playing with the future of the students.

Let us tell you that the students had protested in Bihar demanding re-conduct of the 70th PT examination of BPSC service. After this, on December 29, 2024, the police lathicharged the BPSP candidates. Prashant Kishore had left the place before the lathi charge. A group of students had accused Prashant Kishore of hijacking the movement. However, Prashant had given clarification.

Now his Jan Suraj Party has also given clarification on the vanity van controversy. Party spokesperson Vivek Kumar says that a vanity van has been kept for the purpose of washroom of the fasting people. Vivek Kumar said that the issue is not of vanity van but of paper leak. The government is beating the students with sticks and the prince of the opposition is resting at home.

Vivek Kumar said, “We challenge the opposition leaders, especially Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi Yadav and BJP leaders, that if they have the courage then they should spend a night in this bitter cold under the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Maidan. PK is sitting in front of the media cameras at eight o’clock. The opposition is not concerned with the issues of the students, hence unnecessary things are happening.”
