According to the National Institute of Health, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, anti-microbial and anti-viral properties are found in castor oil. Apart from this, ricinoleic acid is found in castor oil, which is an unsaturated omega 9 fatty acid. A hydroxy acid is also found in it.

According to research, the primary component found in castor oil is ricinoleic acid, which helps in relieving anxiety and stress. Tests on rats found that 5 percent coliform slightly increased the number of rats staying in and entering a baseline open zone when left alone. In the next phase, the effect of 5 percent castor oil and 5 percent ricinoleic acid was tested. Here it was found that both castor oil and ricinoleic acid increased the number of rats living in open areas compared to those living in isolation.
