Champions Trophy 2025 India Squad: Shubman Gill gets big responsibility, Shami returns, Jaiswal also gets a chance, 15 greats of India for Champions Trophy

Champions Trophy 2025 Team India Squad: The Indian team has been announced for the Champions Trophy. Rohit Sharma is leading the 15-member team. Indian team chief selector Ajit Agarkar and Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma held a press conference together on Saturday and during this Team India was announced. Shubman Gill has been given a big responsibility for this ICC tournament. Gill has been made the vice-captain of Team India.

Apart from Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, top order batsmen like Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal have also been taken for the Champions Trophy. Yashasvi Jaiswal has not made his ODI debut yet. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see that if he comes in the team, then in what order he plays. Jaiswal opens in Test and T20.

Hardik Pandya has made a natural comeback as an all-rounder. Apart from this, wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant is also a part of the team. Left-handed all-rounders Akshar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja are also part of the team. Along with this, Washington Sundar is also included in the team as another all-rounder. Whereas KL Rahul has been successful in making his place as the second wicketkeeper in the team.

Talking about the bowling department, apart from Akshar, Sundar, Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav will handle the spin department. The pace attack will be led by star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who bowled brilliantly in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Experienced Mohammed Shami has returned to international cricket after a long time. Apart from the Shami-Bumrah pair, Arshdeep Singh will also take charge of the fast bowling department.

Mohammad Siraj has been dropped from the team. Siraj was recently seen struggling in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Sanju Samson, who missed the Vijay Hazare Trophy, has also not got a place in the team. Whereas in domestic cricket, Karun Nair, who performed brilliantly in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, has not got a place in the team.

The Champions Trophy will start on 19 February and the final match will be played on 9 March. Most of the matches will be played in Pakistan, but Team India’s matches will be played in Dubai under the hybrid model. A total of eight teams are participating in this 19-day one-day cricket tournament and 15 matches will be played during this period.

The Indian team has been placed in Group A along with Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand. Team India will play all its matches at Dubai International Stadium. India vs Pakistan match will be played on 23 February in Dubai.
