Champions Trophy 2025: Neither Mohammed Shami, nor Rishabh Pant, Sanjay Bangar surprised with his best XI for Champions Trophy

Champions Trophy 2025, Sanjay Bangar Prediction India XI : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian team for the ICC Champions Trophy. The command of the team has once again been handed over to Rohit Sharma. Young batsman Shubhman Gill has been made the vice-captain. The captaincy of Rohit Sharma, who is going through poor form in Test cricket, was at the center of criticism recently.

Apart from this, Virat Kohli’s form has also been a matter of concern. However, BCCI has once again expressed confidence in the experience of these senior players for big ICC tournaments. After the announcement of the team for the Champions Trophy, Sanjay Bangar has chosen his best eleven and surprisingly he has not included Mohammed Shami and Rishabh Pant in it.

India had to face defeat 1-3 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. The player whom India was missing during this entire series was Mohammed Shami. Mohammed Shami had taken India to the final of the ICC ODI World Cup on the basis of his strong bowling. But since then he had stayed away from the field.

Now he has once again returned to the Champions Trophy team and this shows how much confidence the team management has in him. However, former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar believes that Team India should not field Shami for the ICC tournament to be held in February-March and should choose Arshdeep Singh instead.

“You leave out one of the fast bowlers. If both Arshdeep and Bumrah are available, you can leave out someone like Shami. So for me, Shami is not a starter,” Sanjay Bangar said on Star Sports.

Interestingly, neither Axar Patel nor Rishabh Pant has found a place in Bangar’s best Indian XI for the ICC Champions Trophy. He believes that only one of Ravindra Jadeja and Akshar will play and he has chosen the senior all-rounder instead of the junior.

KL Rahul is his first choice wicketkeeper and he has kept Pant out. Bangar said, “After this, one of Ravindra Jadeja and Akshar Patel and one reserve wicketkeeper. So in this case Rishabh Pant can be on the bench.”

Sanjay Bangar’s Best XI: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wicket keeper), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh.

The Indian cricket team has been placed in Group A in the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan and Dubai. Apart from Team India, Group A also includes Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand. India will start its campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
