New Zealand Announce Team For Champions Trophy 2025: The New Zealand Cricket Board announced its 15-member squad on January 12 for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, starting on February 19. In the upcoming Champions Trophy to be hosted by Pakistan, the Kiwi team will play its first match against the host team. The Kiwi team has got a place in Group A along with India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. For this important tournament, the Kiwi Cricket Board has appointed spin all-rounder Mitchell Santner as the captain of its team in place of Kane Williamson, who will take the field as captain for the first time in an ICC tournament. Recently, under the captaincy of Santner, the New Zealand team has won the ODI and T20 series against Sri Lanka at home.
These three fast bowlers got place in Kiwi team
If we talk about the New Zealand cricket team for the ICC Champions Trophy, where Mitchell Santner is captaining it, William O’Rourke, Ben Sears and Nathan Smith have got a place in fast bowling, in which all three players have got the place for the first time in their career. Will be a part of any ICC tournament, apart from this the team also includes Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson. In spin bowling, apart from Santner, the Kiwi team will have the options of Michael Bracewell, Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra.
Williamson’s experience will be useful for Kiwi team
Talking about Kane Williamson, he was also a part of the New Zealand team in the ICC Champions Trophy played in 2013 and 2017, so his experience is going to be very important for the Kiwi team. Apart from this, Tom Latham and Mitchell Santner were also included in the New Zealand squad in the last played ICC Champions Trophy.
