Chhattisgarh Finance Minister O. P. Chaudhary on Monday presented a budget of Rs 1,65,000 crore for FY 2025-26 in the state assembly. It focuses on good governance, speed in infrastructure, technology and industrial development. He said that per capita income in FY 2024-25 is expected to reach Rs 1,62,870 with an increase of 9.37 percent. Big announcements made in Chhattisgarh budget

  • The Chief Minister’s Mobile Tower Scheme will be launched to provide mobile tower connectivity in remote areas.
  • In remote areas, funds will be provided under the Chief Minister Transport Scheme to provide public transport services from gram panchayat to block and district level, where public transport is not available due to low density of population.
  • 500 new cooperative societies will be formed, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will be established in the state.
  • Survey will be conducted to connect Mahanadi-Indravati rivers and Sikasar-Codar rivers.
  • Medi City, Education City and National Institute of Urban Management will be established in Nawa Raipur.
  • Provision has been made in the budget to promote UPI (digital payment) in all gram panchayats.
  • In the budget, an allocation of Rs 10,000 crore has been made for the farming advancement scheme, which aims to promote agricultural prosperity.
  • A allocation of Rs 8,500 crore has been made for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) to upgrade rural housing.
  • The Mahtari Vandan Yojana has received a funding of Rs 5,500 crore and the Chief Minister Food Assistance Scheme has received a funding of Rs 4,500 crore, which will help women to empower and ensure food security.
  • Rs 3,500 crore has been kept separate to provide free electricity for agricultural pumps up to 5 HP, which will reduce the financial burden on farmers.
  • Apart from this, Rs 2,000 crore has been allocated for construction of new road under the Public Works Department (PWD).
  • Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Rs 845 crore has been sanctioned for village roads and Rs 500 crore has been fixed for connecting highly backward tribal areas to the main road under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Jan Sadak construction scheme.
  • Realizing the challenges faced by small traders and the need to reduce tax compliance burden, the state government has decided to increase the limit of e-way bill from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
  • Cess on stamp duty on real estate transactions will be removed.
  • Journalist Samman Nidhi was increased from 10 thousand to 20 thousand.
  • Announcement to increase DA to 53 percent for government employees. DA will get the benefit from April.

Chhattisgarh’s revenue expected to increase 11%

The Finance Minister of Chhattisgarh said that due to positive efforts of the government to increase revenue, the state’s revenue is expected to increase by 11 percent without imposing new taxes for the financial year 2025-26 or without increasing the tax rate.
