China’s dangerous virus Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) has entered India. 2 cases of HMPV virus have been reported from Karnataka. ICMR said that 2 cases of HMPV have been reported in Karnataka, in which a three-month-old girl and an 8-month-old boy have been found infected with HMPV virus. These are the initial cases of HMPV virus in India. The Government of India has come into alert mode after the cases of HMPV virus came to light. The health department has called an emergency meeting. It is being claimed that the HMPV virus has infected thousands of people in China. The situation there is getting out of control, a crowd of patients is visible outside the hospitals.

A 3-month-old girl is admitted to Baptist Hospital in Bengaluru, she was admitted due to bronchopneumonia. She was later treated for HMPV and has now been discharged. The second case was found in an 8-month-old baby, who was admitted to Baptist Hospital in Bengaluru on January 3 due to bronchopneumonia. He is undergoing treatment for HMPV and is now better than before. The surprising thing is that according to the Health Ministry, both the children have not returned from any other country.
No need to panic right now
No specific information has been given by China yet about HMPV virus. It seems that China is hiding a lot regarding the worsening situation regarding HMPV virus. But it has definitely come to light that its symptoms are similar to corona virus infection. However, it is being said that the death rate among patients infected with HMPV virus is still negligible.
Delhi Health Department issued advisory
Delhi government is also in alert mode regarding Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) virus. Preparations have started here to fight the infection. Delhi’s Health Ministry issued an advisory on Sunday to ensure preparedness regarding possible health challenges related to human metapneumovirus (HMPV) and other respiratory infections. According to a statement, Director General (Health Services) Dr Vandana Bagga held a meeting with Chief District Medical Officers and State Program Officer of IDSP on Sunday to discuss preparedness to deal with respiratory diseases in Delhi. Under the recommendations, hospitals have been directed to immediately report cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) through the IHIP portal.
