Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav held an emergency meeting on Friday night amid protests against the destruction of toxic waste of Bhopal’s Union Carbide factory in Pithampur. After the meeting, CM said- Respecting the public sentiments, everyone will be tried before the High Court.

Deputy Chief Ministers Jagdish Deora and Rajendra Shukla along with Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, State BJP President VD Sharma, Dhar MLA Neena Verma and Chief Secretary Anurag Jain and other officials were present in the meeting. CM said-
Our government is public welfare, public friendly and respects public sentiments. I appeal to the public not to believe any rumor or false news. I and my government are with you.
After the emergency meeting regarding disposal of Union Carbide’s waste, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav informed the media about the meeting.
Protest against disposal of waste by Union Carbide in Pithampur On Wednesday night, about 337 metric tons of poisonous waste was packed in 10 containers from Union Carbide Factory of Bhopal and sent to Pithampur. It is to be burnt at Ramki Enviro Industries. People, organizations, society and political parties of Pithampur are opposing the destruction of this poisonous chemical waste here.
The phase of protests that started on Thursday morning continues for the third day on Saturday. A protest is being held at Maharana Pratap bus stand in Pithampur. This includes Pithampur Bachao Samiti, Pithampur Raksha Manch, Congress, BJP, Rathore Samaj, Kshatriya Samaj, Sen Samaj, Adivasi Samaj, All Trade Union and other organizations.
Stones pelted at police, sticks fired in response Earlier, the protest which was going on in Pithampur since Friday morning became more intense in the evening. The crowd pelted stones at the police at the Power House intersection. After this the police chased away the protesters by lathicharge. During this, policemen were seen dragging a woman.
Even at Chhatra Chhaya intersection, the police lathicharged the people. In the afternoon, the police also lathi-charged the people protesting at Goodluck intersection in Pithampur. Police dispersed the protesters using water cannon. Actually, the protesters blocked the intersection. Due to which vehicles were stuck on the highway for about 7 kilometers.
Two people had tried to commit suicide on Friday. At night the protesters were chased away by the police with batons.

- Two youths poured petrol on themselves. During this, suddenly a fire broke out from behind. In which both of them got burnt.
- The protesters tried to block the road. The police used mild force.
- Petitioner lawyer Babulal Nagar challenged the Chief Minister to debate on the ill effects of waste.
- Along with local people, BJP-Congress leaders were also included in the protest.
- Police lathicharged and used water cannon on the people protesting at Goodluck intersection.
