19-year-old Australian opener Sam Constance has admitted his mistake over the dispute with Jasprit Bumrah in Sydney. He said, I was taking more time for batting, due to which Bumrah got upset.
India had to lose the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1 against Australia. The last match of the series was played in Sydney from 3 January. Constance clashed with Bumrah without any reason in the last over of the first day of the match.

After dismissing Usman Khawaja on the last ball of the last over of the first day, Bumrah celebrated by going towards Constance.
Constas admitted his mistake – Constance said on Australian channel Triple M about this matter, he (Bumrah) was bowling the last over of the day. Usman and I wanted to take more time to prepare for batting. But it was my fault. It is part of cricket. Credit goes to Bumrah that he dismissed Usman on the very next ball.
What was the dispute? Play was going on on the first day of the Sydney Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Bumrah was bowling. Usman Khawaja and Constance came to open for the Australian team. Bumrah wanted to bowl more overs without wasting time. But Khawaja was continuously spending time batting.
Meanwhile Constance said something to provoke Bumrah. After which the dispute between the two increased. In between, the umpire came and separated the two. However, on the last ball, Bumrah did wonders and got Usman Khawaja caught out by KL Rahul at slip.
Bumrah was the Player of the Series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He took 32 wickets in 5 matches.
No matter what happens on the field, I give my best performance. Const said Bumrah is a great bowler. We performed well in the series. No matter what happens on the field, I try to do my best. I think there was some nervousness in the other team due to my arrival.
Sam can play against Sri Lanka Sam Constance’s attacking batting style against India impressed everyone. Constas’s performance has raised hopes of his inclusion in the squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour. On this he said, I still don’t know whether I have been selected or not. I guess we’ll find out in the next few days.
Australia has to play a 2-Test series against Sri Lanka on 29 January and 6 February in Sri Lanka itself.
