Police in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday (January 5, 2025) arrested K Courtalnathan, state secretary of Hindu Munnani Organization. He has been accused of spreading misleading news on social media. K Courtalanathan had accused the doctors of Tirunelveli Medical College of implanting Copper T on a Hindu woman against her will. Courtalnathan had called it a conspiracy to reduce the population of Hindus.
of media reports according to A 31-year-old woman, originally from Madurai, was admitted to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital (TVMCH) in November 2024. On 25 November she gave birth to a child. Later, the woman’s father S Maruthupandian had alleged that the copper tee was installed without his daughter’s consent. The woman’s father also claimed that his daughter suffered bleeding while applying copper tea, which had a negative impact on her health.
The woman’s father had accused the medical college staff of discriminating against Hindu women. He claimed that Copper T was not fitted to any non-Hindu woman in the hospital. He also gave a complaint letter in this regard. In the complaint, he told that his daughter bled so much that copper tea also came out along with it. The same complaint of the woman’s father was shared by Hindu Munnani’s state secretary Courtalnathan on social media.
K Courtalnathan termed this action of the doctors of Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital as a conspiracy to reduce the population of Hindus. He raised the demand for an investigation against the hospital staff and compensation to the victim. K Courtalanathan had also announced a demonstration in front of TVMCH if his demands were not met. The hospital administration termed these allegations of Hindu Munnani official as baseless and lodged a complaint with the police.
On this complaint of the hospital administration, the police lodged an FIR against Courtalnathan. recorded Did it. Action has been taken against them under sections 192, 196(1) and 352 of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) for giving misleading information and spreading unrest. K Courtalanathan was arrested on Sunday. After his arrest, Hindu Munnani and BJP members protested in front of TVMCH police station. Later K Courtalanathan got bail.

Meanwhile, the victim woman has also lodged a police complaint against the Dean and doctors of TVMCH. In her complaint, the victim said that she was fitted with Copper T without her consent. During this time, some hospital employees had also got the victim to sign a blank form. The police have taken cognizance of this complaint and started investigation.
