According to mental health expert Aarushi Sethi Shah, there is the highest risk of trauma in Indian society. Which can be seen from economic problems to relationship stress. If they are not addressed properly and at the right time, it can be dangerous.
Going to work after handling household chores and returning from work and getting involved in work again. This is a universal challenge of women. Even after working continuously, neither does they get the appreciation that they deserve, nor the success, for which she is busy with her life. Research of the National Library and Medicine suggests that most perfectionists are passing through some trauma. These untold, unresolved trauma are transmitted from one generation to another.
Stress, trauma and depression are like a fungus, which definitely affects the people around. And the family is the nearest unit of any person. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, when special women from all over the world are being rewarded, honored, we spoke on women’s mental health issues that are ignored as common. This week’s health dialogues are with us, Mental Health Expert Aarushi Sethi Shah (Arushi Sethi Shah on Mental Health).
Who is Aarushi Sethi Shah
Aarushi Sethi Shah is a mental health expert. Who is also working with corporate for mental health. He is the co -founder of Trijog, an organization working for mental health.
Understanding the importance of mental health began when she was just 21 years old. She was on a visit to Nepal when an earthquake occurred in Nepal in 2015. This was the second largest earthquake in the world and there was heavy loss of life and property. Many Indians were stranded there, including Aarushi. Indians were evacuated from there with the help of C130 Hercules aircraft of the Indian Army. In this earthquake, 8 thousand people died and more than two and a half thousand were injured.

Getting through this accident was a great shock for Arushi Sethi Shah on Mental Health. In a way, it was Aarushi’s second birth, to be saved was no less than a miracle for him. But there was still a long battle on the mental level. The painful memories of this tragic accident were scratching his mind and brain. She became victims of Anxiety and Post Trustic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It was Aarushi’s luck that her mother was with her. Those who themselves understand the importance of mental health, and also have experience.

Aarushi’s mother helped him come out of the evil memories of the incident. This time of recovery was a new thinking and time of new change for him. She says, “When I was coming out of anxiety and depression, I realized that I have a mother. Which can understand my feelings and my problems very well. But what will happen to those people who do not get any help (Arushi Sethi Shah on Mental Health). And this was the reason for the establishment of the Trijog for me. “
She further says, “Even then there were mental health clinics and psychiatrists, but people visiting him were often considered crazy. They could help you in the order of treatment, but there was no atmosphere that you could share your emotions with them. I realized that God has given me this new life for this task. So that I can help those people who are struggling with any kind of mental problem. ”
It is the strength of Aarushi’s resolve that she has given mental health advice and help to more than 25 million people so far. He is accompanied by a team of 350 psychologists, who specialize in different types of problems.
Q. 1 You told that after the earthquake survived, you had to face mental health problems. PTSD of which is also one. Whereas in the reports and conferences issued on mental health issues, it is said that there is no post tractic stress disorder in India. Do you believe that all these claims are different from the ground reality?
At first we have to understand what the trauma is. I believe that there is the highest risk of mental trauma in our society. The economic condition of the people here, different types of crimes, the rate of suicides are all increasing due to the unresolved of the trauma. A society where there are different types of risks, the trauma can ever enter life. It is not necessary for him to create the issue of life and death.
Parents’ pressure, domestic violence, oral misconduct, non-verbal misconduct, bullying, confidence, lack of self-respect are all examples of trauma.
Q. 2 Must have faced a lot of difficulties while starting the Tijog?
Yes, difficulties came, but I was aware of my goal. I had mother support. It is not my nature to back down after losing the difficulties. Then someone had to start. One step leads to the way forward, which makes a way for the people behind them. We saw many ups and downs in the ten-year journey. But ten years are not enough to eliminate the problem from the root. It is a good thing that now celebrities have started talking about their mental health struggle. And a special day has also been dedicated to Mental Health Day 10 October. So that we can talk more about it.
Now its need is being understood! Now the youth are also awake and some big companies are also cooperating in it. A large youth population needs therapy. But many more efforts are needed. The government needs to invest for mental health. The leadership will have to come forward for this. Only then will the importance of good mental health be understood in Arushi Sethi Shah on Mental Health.
Q.3 Aarushi ji, tell me which age group or gender is facing the most mental health problems at this time?
I say from my experience that Kisars and youth i.e. people between the ages of 15 to 30 are facing a lot of mental health problems. Due to age, lots of exposure and social media, they have many issues related to self -estimates, confidence and self -respect. Youth have problems like marital problems, work related stress, excessive work burden and work-life balance.

Q.4 Aarushi, you also go to corporate for counseling and one to one session, we are seeing that in the last 10-15, 20 years, many women have made it to the corporate. But with this, their struggle has also increased, how do you deal with such issues?
We have to first understand how our corporate structure can be suited to a woman. We have to make a lot of changes in our corporate culture. Some women may not be able to do 9 to 5 jobs, while some 24/7 are also active. However, most women are handling dual responsibility. They deal with cooking and household chores before leaving the office and then even after returning from work, they have to get involved in work again. Children’s care is still responsible for women. We have to establish a culture that takes women forward in the working field.
There are still many gender inequalities in the corporate world. When we join the corporate, we work on a woman’s health, confidence, work-life balance. There are 10 essential pillars of overall development, physical health, emotional health, spiritual health (spiritual health), social health, social health, occupational health Health).
Psychological health at work can be improved only when all these are healthy. Apart from the One to One meeting, we assess it with the help of group intervention. Webinar or workshop on mental health is not enough. Until you consider their personal needs.
In intensive mental health assistance training we explain very deeply how to address your feelings and changes in yourself. If such changes are seen in any of your companions or colleagues, then how to treat them. So that you can deal with your everyday challenges better.
Q. 5 Sometimes there came an opportunity that disturbed you, or which you want to share with us?
We get to see many things. Once a call came from the corporate that an employee has written his entire suicide plan on the board. In such a situation, everything has to be dealt with very patience. Along with understanding the problems of a person, what can help him get help from his workplace.
We also come to such children, due to which the mother-father’s crying condition was done. The right counseling can save very important energy and life. But everything is going right in the mental health industry too, it is not so. Some people are doing very good work, while some are just working to make fools.
In such a situation, our responsibility increases even more. To bring the right changes, the correct people will have to take the right action at the right time.
Q.6 Aarushi, women in Corporate are two types of stress victims. The first she, who even lagged behind her male counterparts even after continuous work and the second she had to take a break from work due to family responsibility. Both are feeling a kind of suffocation?
The whole thing is about the view. Before anything, we have to keep our self -work. If we continue to sacrifice our dreams to make others happy, to get false praises, then we can never be happy. It is true that women are expected too much and they are given very little attention. But you have to take steps for yourself. Do not assess your success or failure from someone else’s perspective. Taking brakes and working continuously, both are completely normal.
Q.7 AI generated apps have also come for mental health help, are they really able to help anything?
AI can be an accessory tool to create awareness about mental health, but it can never be the main equipment. Because every person is different, every person has to understand in different ways. Different types of therapy will work for each person. This requires very intensive training, which we have made possible in India.

Through AI you can assess a person, prepare some supportive games, play some games to relieve stress, give quick answers and suggestions to some questions. But one to one conversation or understanding of the problem will only require an expert.
Q. 8 You are doing so much work, you meet so many people, how do you keep your mental health right?
The truth is that only the man can take care of himself. If we think someone else takes care of us from outside, then we will always be upset. Every day these 4 things are part of my routine – 1 physical health. Whether it is half an hour, it is very important for your body to take workouts and time for yoga every day. Being physically active releases positive hormones from your brain, which makes you happy.
Second, for emotional health, I do intensive jerrying twice a month. I take therapy once a month, because I have to lead a team of 350 people. To do something good, it is necessary to feel good from within to make it good.
Third, for spiritual energy, every day 45 minutes I keep for meditation or meditation. Even while doing everything, we need to be connected with our universe. Fourth, what is most important is to meet friends and family members, spend time with them. We are social creatures, we can feel good only by meeting others.
