IAS officials are called the “steel frame” of the Indian administrative structure, which are considered to be the policies of the country and the backbone of administration. But, corruption cases that have come out from time to time have tarnished this image. The excess of power, influence and opportunities forced some officials to shake morality. There are many examples when some administrative service officials deviated from their duties and were engulfed in allegations of corruption. Let us know about some famous IAS officers who have been accused of corrupt conduct during their tenure and who have questioned the credibility of service.

Sameer Vishnoi (Chhattisgarh cadre)

In October 2022, the Directorate Department (ED) arrested Sameer Vishnoi on charges of money laundering and illegal levy recovery. ₹ 47 lakh cash, gold, sale and other properties were recovered from his house. It was alleged that he had illegally collected Rs 25 per tonne on coal transport from a poor family of Rs 500 crore in 16 months.

Pooja Singhal (Jharkhand Cadre)

Pooja Singhal, who became the youngest IAS in the country, is accused of MNREGA fund scam and money laundering. ED arrested him and filed a charge sheet against him in the PMLA court. He has serious allegations of misusing government money and buying private property.

Of. Rajesh (Gujarat cadre)

IAS officer of Gujarat cadre K.K. Rajesh was arrested in August 2022 for taking bribe and acquiring illegal property. He misused his post and took illegal benefits from the public and invested it in his assets.

Neera Yadav (Uttar Pradesh cadre)

Neera Yadav was found guilty in the Noida Land allotment scam. He is accused of violating the rules and provided financial benefits to his family. The Supreme Court sentenced him to two years in jail due to corruption.

Babulal Aggarwal (Chhattisgarh cadre)

Babulal Agarwal of Chhattisgarh cadre was accused of acquiring disproportionate assets and opening 400 fake bank accounts. ED seized his properties and filed a charge sheet against him.

Rakesh Bahadur (Uttar Pradesh cadre)

Rakesh Bahadur of Uttar Pradesh cadre is accused of joining the Noida land scam worth ₹ 4000 crore. The court ordered the removal of him from the post due to allegations of corruption.

Subhash Ahluwalia (Himachal Pradesh cadre)

Subhash Ahluwalia of Himachal Pradesh cadre was accused of earning disproportionate assets. While working as the Principal Principal of the Chief Minister, he and his wife were suspended and arrested by the Anti -Corruption Bureau. However, he was later restored after approval in departmental inquiry.

New corruption cases in 2025

Sanjeev Hans (Bihar cadre)

In January 2025, he was arrested in a case of disproportionate assets. Investigation is still going on against him.

Kumar Rajiv Ranjan (Jammu and Kashmir cadre)

In February 2025, the CBI registered a case against him in a disproportionate assets case.
