Administration is continuously conducting raids

  • The administration team is also conducting raids at kite sellers’ places and seizing Chinese kites. However, after increasing the crackdown, now Chinese Manjha is available only after telling the code word.
  • Actually, Chinese Manjha is Chinese in name, but it is made in India only. According to kite sellers, this Manjha comes from Bangalore. However, after the crackdown intensified, the label has now been removed from Manjha.
  • Due to this it is difficult to identify the company. Also now this Manja is not being sold openly. This string is taken out only when a kite flyer uses a plastic code word.

Difference between Chinese Manjha and normal Manjha

  • Chinese Manjha: In this, pieces of glass, metal, pieces of aluminum oxide and lead are used. Along with all these ingredients, iron filings are mixed into a ball and placed on the manjha. Chemicals are also used in this. Not only this, the Chinese Manjha does not break easily with the hands, if you try, your hands get cut. With this, up to 1-2 kg weight can be lifted.
  • General Majha: It is made from cotton thread. It is called Manjha of Bareilly. In this, cotton thread is wrapped around a wooden log from one end to the other. After this, pulp is prepared by mixing the thread with cooked rice, balls, ground glass, isabgael. This pulp is rubbed on the thread.
  • Colorful Manjha: In Gwalior, kites are flown by attaching some manja to a cotton thread. Whereas in some areas of Malwa the entire Manjha is colourful. To make this, one end of the cotton thread is taken and dipped in colour. When the thread gets wet, it is further ground with pieces of tube light and bulb and taken out by holding it in strong leather, due to which the glass sticks to it.
