Curfew has been imposed in ten police station areas after a violent clash between two groups in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The officials gave information about this on Tuesday. Curfew has been imposed in Kotwali, Ganeshpeth, Lakdganj, Pachpavali, Shantinagar, Sakkardara, Nandanvan, Imambara, Yashodhara Nagar and Kapil Nagar police station areas. Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singhal issued an order saying that this curfew has come into force from midnight and will continue till further orders. The police have been empowered to close the roads to maintain law and order in the affected areas. Any person who violates curfew will be taken action under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code.
“Strict action will be taken against the accused”
The Police Commissioner said, “The situation is calm at the moment. A photo was burnt, after which people gathered. We tried to disperse this crowd and took action in this regard. Strict action will be taken against the accused.” The police has appealed to the citizens to maintain peace and cooperate in law and order.
50 people detained
According to police sources, he conducted a large -scale search operation and has so far detained 50 people involved in stone pelting, sabotage and attack on police and fire personnel. A large team of police, SRPF and RAF personnel has been deployed. More than a dozen policemen, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police, have been injured.
Continuing the situation, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has appealed to the people to cooperate with the police and advised to maintain law and order and peace. He has also appealed to the citizens of Nagpur not to believe in rumors and not to take the law into their own hands. The Chief Minister said, “Nagpur is a peace loving city, where people join each other’s happiness and sorrow. Do not believe in rumors and cooperate with the administration.”
He added, “What happened in the Mahala area was wrong. It is unfair to gather and stone pelting. I request all the citizens of Nagpur to follow the law and order. This city is going to be in harmony, so there should be no reason to disturb peace. I am taking care of the situation myself.”
The Chief Minister also said, “I have told the police commissioner of Nagpur that strict action should be taken against the people involved in the violence.” He warned, “If someone attacks the police, it will be taken seriously, so I request everyone to maintain peace.”
