Lyricist and playback singer Swanand Kirkire was given Shri Dwarka Prasad Agarwal Samman at Jaipur Literature Festival.
The 8th ‘Shri Dwarka Prasad Agarwal Samman’ was given to the lyricist and playback singer Swanand Kirkire in the Durbar Hall of Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) today. He was given Rs 2 lakh cash and citation in honor.

Talking to Dainik Bhaskar’s National Editor LP Pant at the honor ceremony, he said that I did not go out to become a lyricist. I did not go out to be made, just went on. Lyricist Swanand Kirkire has given many classical songs like ‘O Ri Chiraiya’, ‘Navrai Majhi’, ‘Bawra Man Dekha’, ‘All is Vel’, ‘Tu Kisi Rail C’.
A check of 2 lakhs was given as lyricist and playback singer Swanand Kirkire Award. National Editor of Dainik Bhaskar Laxmi Prasad Pant, Managing Editor Jagdish Sharma, State Editor Mukesh Mathur were present on the stage.
I try to see the moon in different ways Swanand Kirkire said- I am feeling very proud. The Jaipur Literature Festival has been awarded such a big award. I am included in this list, I am very happy.
Swanand Kirkire said- I did not go to become a lyricist, I just went on to be made. I am a big fan of Javed Akhtar Saheb. I like Amitabh Bhattacharya’s work very much. Gulzar Saheb saw the moon in a very different way, so I also try to see the moon in different ways.
I am from Indore. My parents were also associated with the music family, but the first met with my Gulzar Saheb. Gulzar Saheb’s songs fell on my ears in a different way.
His songs left a different kind of impression on my mind. The way words are selected in Gulzar Saheb’s songs. Looking at them, it seems that it is a big interesting. Seeing this, I woke up interest towards music.
I did not go out to become a lyricist. I did not leave anything. What I became, he went on to become. All the songs of Gulzar Saheb feel that it is for me. I listen to lyricists with great love.
My early song is a dream to see Bawra Mana. Gulzar Saheb’s love for songs is very funny.

Honor started in 2016 Mr. Dwarka Prasad Agarwal Samman started in 2016 from JLF platform. Giants like Prabhat Ranjan, Yatindra Mishra, Satya Vyas, Deepak Ramola, Manoj Muntashir Shukla, Irshad Kamil and Amish Tripathi have been given this honor so far. Dainik Bhaskar introduced this honor with the aim of encouraging and promoting Hindi writers.
