Farmer leader Jagjit Dallewal, who was on fast unto death for 42 days on the Khanauri border of Haryana-Punjab, suddenly deteriorated on Monday (January 6) night. He remained unconscious for about an hour. His pulse rate came to 42 and the upper range of blood pressure (BP) came to 80 and lower range to 56, while it was below 60.

The team of doctors present there massaged his hands and legs. After which he regained consciousness. After this the doctors gave him water to drink. As soon as they came to know about Dallewal’s health, all the farmers present on the front woke up. He started chanting Satnam Waheguru at night itself regarding Dallewal’s health.

Dallewal vomited after the Mahapanchayat Earlier, on January 4, a mahapanchayat was held at Khanauri border. Dallewal’s health deteriorated after his 9-minute address here. He felt dizzy and started vomiting. His blood pressure reduced considerably. After which the health department has put a team on alert mode. Dallewal had stopped drinking water after vomiting. His health had become very weak.

High Power Committee met Dallewal On Monday (January 6), the High Power Committee formed by the Supreme Court reached the Khanauri border under the leadership of Chairman former Justice Nawab Singh. The committee met Dallewal. Also told him that even if he continues the fast, he should seek medical help. The committee said that it will submit its report to the apex court.
The committee made it clear that the issues had been raised before the Supreme Court from their side. The number of issues may increase or decrease. We will submit phasewise report to the court. He also said that he does not have the authority to take any decision.

In Dallewal’s case, 8 hearings were held in the Supreme Court in 28 days.
1. Do not force feed Dallewal. Dallewal was sitting on a fast on 26 November. On December 13, a hearing was held in the Supreme Court regarding Jagjit Dallewal’s fast unto death. In which the Supreme Court asked the Punjab and Central Government to provide immediate medical help to Dallewal. They should not be force fed anything. His life is more important than the movement. After this, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav and Central Home Director Mayank Mishra reached Khanauri border and met him.
2. Punjab government cannot be lax In this hearing, the Punjab government said in the Supreme Court that Dallewal should be admitted to the hospital. On this the Supreme Court said that there are sentiments attached to them. The state should do something. Laxity cannot be tolerated. You have to handle the situation.
3. Without testing, who is saying that the health of a 70 year old man is fine? In this hearing, the Punjab government claimed that Dallewal’s health was fine. On this the Supreme Court asked that the 70 year old man is on hunger strike for 24 days. Who is the doctor who is telling Dallewal to be right without any test? How can you say Dallewal is okay? When he was not examined, blood test was not done, ECG was not done.
4. Punjab government’s responsibility for Dallewal’s health In this hearing, the Supreme Court said that Dallewal’s condition is worsening every day. Why doesn’t the Punjab government make him shift in the hospital? This is their responsibility. It is the responsibility of the Punjab government to ensure the stable health condition of Dallewal. The authorities will take a decision if he needs to be admitted to hospital.
5. Shift Dallewal to hospital, Center should help This hearing took place on a contempt petition filed for non-implementation of the Supreme Court’s December 19 order. In this, the court told the Punjab government that first you create the problem, then you say that you cannot do anything. Shift them to the hospital with the help of the centre. In this, on the protest of the farmers, the court said that it has never heard of any movement to stop anyone from being taken to the hospital. This is like incitement to suicide.
6. Punjab government asked for 3 days’ extension During this hearing, the Punjab government told the court that Punjab was closed on December 30, due to which the traffic did not move. Apart from this, if the central government takes initiative then Dallewal is ready for talks. After which the Supreme Court accepted the application of Punjab Government seeking time.
7. We did not ask to break the Dallewal fast In the hearing on January 2, the court said – Deliberate efforts are being made to worsen the situation. We never asked to break the fast. The court told the Punjab government that your attitude is not to bring about reconciliation. Some so-called farmer leaders are making irresponsible statements.
8. Punjab government said- Dallewal agreed to talks In the hearing held on January 6, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for the Punjab government, said that farmer leader Jagjit Dallewal has agreed to meet the committee formed by the court. Sibal appealed to hold the hearing after some time. On which the court fixed the hearing for Friday (January 10).
Will burn draft on Lohri
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher told that on January 6, Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Gobind Singh was celebrated at Shambhu border. The draft of the new agricultural marketing policy prepared by the Central Government is a version of the repealed agricultural laws. Now preparations are underway to implement it in a new form. Farmers are opposing this.
On January 13, the day of Lohri, this draft will be burnt across the country. On January 10, effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be burnt in protest against the attitude adopted by the Central Government towards farmers.
