New Delhi :
Congress chief in Maharashtra Nana Patole told NDTV that Maha Vikas Aghadi will form the next government in the state and its Chief Minister will take oath on November 25. However, Maharashtra Exit Poll has predicted NDA’s victory or a hung assembly. Patole told NDTV in an exclusive interview, “Last time they had predicted Congress’s victory in Haryana and we lost. This time they are predicting our defeat. We will definitely win.”
BJP’s Milind Deora also seemed equally confident about the victory of the ruling Mahayuti alliance. He said, “I don’t go into numbers… but we will definitely win.” He told NDTV the reason for his confidence was that the alliance had “left no stone unturned… and checked all the boxes” as it worked its way back from the Lok Sabha election defeat.
Rejected possibility of victory of Mahayuti
However, Patole rejected this possibility. Asked whether the BJP’s expectations were justified and the Lok Sabha election results were an exception, he said, “When Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not win during the Lok Sabha elections, when will people like (Chief Ministers) Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis win?” will gain?”
Patole did not even pay attention to the total numbers, but predicted that Congress will win 35 seats in Vidarbha alone and the alliance will clean sweep the region by winning at least 48 to 50 seats out of 62 seats.
The majority figure in the 288-member assembly is 145.
Congress has contested 103 seats, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena 89, and Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party has contested 87 seats.
Six seats were given to other MVA allies, while there was no clarity on three assembly constituencies.
Mahayuti is expected to get 150 seats, MVA will get 125 seats.
A total of nine exit polls have come out regarding Maharashtra elections. It was said that the Grand Alliance can win 150 seats, which includes Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party and BJP. Whereas Maha Vikas Aghadi can get 125 seats. This includes Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, NCP Sharadchandra Pawar and Congress.
Exit polls which have predicted NDA’s victory include People’s Pulse, Matriz, Chanakya Strategies and Times Now JVC. Those who denied victory include Dainik Bhaskar, Lokshahi Marathi Rudra and Electoral Edge.
Counting of votes will take place on Saturday.
