Delhi Elections 2025: These parties are ahead in giving tickets to Dalits on general seats, this is the condition of AAP

New Delhi:

The field for Delhi Assembly elections is ready. The last date for withdrawal of nominations was Monday. After this, this time a total of 699 candidates are trying their luck on 70 seats of Delhi Assembly. Out of these 70 seats, 12 seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes. But in this election, BJP and Congress, deviating from tradition, have given tickets to Scheduled Caste candidates on three general seats also. But the Aam Aadmi Party, which has been running the government in Delhi for the last three times, has failed to do so. Let us see which party has fielded a Dalit candidate from which general seat.

Scheduled Caste candidates on general seats

This time BJP, which has been away from power in Delhi since 1998, has fielded Scheduled Caste candidates on 14 seats. He has made Dippy Indora the candidate from Matiyamahal seat and Kamal Bagdi from Ballimaran seat. Whereas Congress won Narela seat
Aruna Kumari has been made the candidate from. BJP had also made Indora its candidate from Matia Mahal in the 2022 MCD elections. But he lost to AAP’s Kiranbala. Its other candidate was elected councilor on BJP ticket from Ramnagar ward under Bagdi Ballimaran assembly seat. Both the general seats on which BJP has fielded Scheduled Caste candidates are in Muslim dominated areas. Whereas Congress has fielded candidates from Narela. Aruna Kumari, who has been given the ticket, has also been an MCD councilor earlier.

In the Lok Sabha elections held last year, the biggest discussion was about the election results of Faizabad seat of Uttar Pradesh. SP’s Awadhesh Prasad had won this seat. His victory was discussed because Awadhesh Prasad, who came from Dalit community, had won the election from the general seat. He defeated BJP’s Lallu Singh by a margin of more than 50 thousand votes. This step of Samajwadi Party was highly praised. This time BJP and Congress have taken a similar step in the Delhi Assembly elections. This time BJP has fielded two Scheduled Caste candidates and Congress has fielded one Scheduled Caste candidate on one general seat. This step of both the parties becomes important after the political turmoil in the Parliament over the statement made by Home Minister Amit Shah regarding Dr. BR Ambedkar. Apart from BJP and Congress, AAP also joined the ongoing fight over Shah’s statement. But when it came to fielding Dalit candidates on general seats in Delhi, she could not show this courage.

Miracle of SP-Congress alliance

The alliance of Congress and Samajwadi Party had performed brilliantly in the Lok Sabha elections. Both the parties had won 43 out of 80 seats in the state. Of these, 37 seats were won by Samajwadi Party and six seats were won by Congress. The result was that BJP was able to win 30 less seats than in 2019. With this, BJP failed to gather majority on its own. The special thing about this election was that Samajwadi Party had fielded Scheduled Caste candidates on two general seats. He had nominated Sunita Verma from Meerut and Awadhesh Prasad from Faizabad seat. Samajwadi Party had won in Faizabad, while it had to face defeat in Meerut in a tough fight.
