The poison dissolved in the climate of the country’s capital Delhi (Delhi Air Pollution) is becoming a cause of trouble for the people. Get an idea of how polluted the city’s air has become from the fact that the AQI in Delhi has reached dangerous levels for the last 7 consecutive days. This morning also the average temperature of Delhi was recorded at 495. Which is the worst level of AQI this season. In many areas of Delhi including Anand Vihar, AQI has reached 500. The suffocating air of Delhi is also having a negative impact on people’s health.
Sale of air purifiers and masks
With air pollution continuously increasing to dangerous levels in Delhi, the sale of air purifiers and masks has also increased. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s AQI had reached ‘very severe’ category on Monday and AQI was recorded at 484. Which is the worst level of this season before today. Due to increasing pollution, Delhiites are facing difficulty in breathing, due to which the demand for air purifiers and masks has increased.

Supreme Court strict on pollution
A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Monday regarding increasing pollution. During this period, the court has directed all the states of the National Capital Region to immediately form teams to impose restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan i.e. GRAP-4 to reduce pollution. The bench of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Augustine George Masih has reprimanded the Central Government and Delhi Government regarding pollution. The court said, “We are making it clear here that you will not come below Stage 4 without our permission. Even if the AQI comes below 300.”
After the pollution reached dangerous levels, the Delhi government has decided to suspend physical classes for all except classes 10th and 12th, due to which the concern of the students and their families has increased. The purpose of the order to run online classes has been said to be to protect small children from dangerous poisonous air. But it has also created concerns among parents, school management and students. However, in view of the 10th and 12th board exams, schools were kept open for the students appearing for the board exams. But now the Chief Minister has directed to organize online classes for 10th and 12th classes also.
Strict restrictions imposed in Delhi
In view of the increasing pollution in Delhi, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has implemented the fourth phase of the modified Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR from 8 am on November 18, 2024. Under which strict restrictions have already been implemented in Delhi. Delhi CM Atishi has described increasing pollution as a medical emergency. He said that Delhi’s air is being polluted due to stubble burning in BJP ruled states.
Online classes in DU and JNU also
Delhi University (DU) announced to run online classes till 23 November and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) till 22 November. This decision has been taken at a time when AQI has reached dangerously high levels in Delhi and NCR, raising concerns over health and safety. DU said that physical classes will start regularly from November 25. JNU said in a statement that all classes of the university will continue online till November 22.
Government’s advice to people in Delhi
The Delhi government has advised children, elderly, respiratory patients, heart patients and those suffering from chronic diseases to stay indoors. It is obvious that as pollution increases in the city’s climate, it also has a negative impact on people’s health. If the NCR state governments want, they can give work from home to 50% of the employees in public, corporation and private offices. All types of construction work will remain closed. There is a strict ban on burning garbage.
