Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a 2-day visit to the South American country Guyana. On Thursday he addressed the Parliament of Guyana. In his address, PM Modi gave a strong message regarding democracy. Prime Minister Modi said, “Today India stands in favor of global development in every way. We stand in favor of peace. With the same spirit, India also remains the voice of the Global South.” He said, “Democracy is in our DNA, vision and our conduct. Today, the strongest mantra for moving forward in front of the world is – Democracy First, Humanity First.”
Highlights of PM Modi’s address in the Parliament of Guyana:-
- PM Modi said, “We have never moved forward with the spirit of expansionism. We have always stayed away from the spirit of occupying and usurping resources.”
- He said, “Today India stands in favor of global development in every way, stands in favor of peace. With this spirit, today India has also become the voice of the Global South.”
- The PM said, “This is not the time for conflict for the world. This is the time to identify and remove the circumstances giving rise to conflict.”
- The Prime Minister said, “Today there are so many challenges like terrorism, drugs, cyber crime… only by facing them will we be able to shape the future of our future generations.”
- He said, “Today India is fulfilling its duty towards the world as Vishwabandhu. Whatever be the crisis in any country of the world, it is our honest effort to reach there by becoming the first responder.”
- Modi said, “There is no greater medium than democracy to build an inclusive society. Democracy is in our DNA, in our vision. It is in our conduct and behavior.”
- The PM said, “When it came to uniting the world, India gave the mantra of ‘One Earth, One Family and One Future’ during its G20 Presidency. Today, the strongest mantra for the world to move forward is – ‘Democracy. First, humanity first.”
- He said, “The spirit of Democracy First teaches us to take everyone along. Take everyone along and participate in everyone’s development.”
- PM Modi said, “The spirit of Humanity First decides the direction of our decisions. When Humanity First is made the basis of decisions, the results are also beneficial for humanity.”
- PM Modi has been honored with ‘The Dominica Award of Honor’ by the Caribbean country Dominica in Guyana. Dominica President Sylvanie Burton honored PM Modi with her country’s highest honour. PM Modi has been given this award for delivering the vaccine to Dominica during the Covid-19 pandemic. Guyana also honored Modi with its highest national honor ‘Order of Excellence’ and Barbados honored him with the Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados.
