There was a stampede at Bhole Baba’s satsang in Hathras on July 2, 2024. 121 people died in this.
On July 2, 2024, 121 people died in a stampede during Bhole Baba’s satsang in Hathras. Angered by this, Allahabad High Court has summoned the then DM and SSP of Hathras to the court on January 15 with a counter affidavit.
,
The court has asked- Who is responsible for the accident? Why not fix your responsibility for the mismanagement. High Court Justice Shekhar Yadav made this comment during the hearing on the bail plea of woman Manju Devi, accused in the stampede case.
Taking a lesson from the Hathras incident, the High Court ordered Prayagraj DM and Police Commissioner to make adequate security arrangements in the Mahakumbh. The court has sent a copy of the order to CJM Hathras, Home Secretary Uttar Pradesh, Commissioner, District Magistrate and Police Commissioner Prayagraj.
When the stampede took place in Hathras, DM Ashish Kumar and SP Nipun Aggarwal were there.
Mismanagement in Mahakumbh can lead to unpleasant incidents High Court said- Crores of people will come to Prayagraj Mahakumbh. The central and state governments are busy making arrangements. The Prime Minister and the Chief Minister are coming to the spot and overseeing the arrangements.
Despite this, mismanagement can lead to unpleasant incidents. Look after the police administration system. By organizing the fair properly, it will set a good example not only in the state but also outside the country.
After the Hathras stampede, there was shortage of ambulances so the injured were loaded in a loader and taken to CHC.
Justice Shekhar said – it is the responsibility of the administration Justice Shekhar Yadav said- Many such incidents have happened earlier also. Crowds of poor and illiterate people are called and no arrangements are made. The crowd loses its temper in reverence and belief and deaths occur in the stampede. Proper arrangements are not made by the organizers. It is the responsibility of the administration.
In view of the Mahakumbh, security personnel are checking every vehicle by setting up a barrier on the Mirzapur-Prayagraj border.
Government said- 80 thousand allowed, 2.5 lakh crowd gathered In the Hathras stampede case, the government said – the organizers had taken permission from the government for 80 thousand people to come, but 2.5 lakh devotees gathered. When Bhole Baba started leaving after the sermon, the crowd moved in that direction for darshan.
The servants forcibly stopped him. Hundreds of people were suppressed and crushed. They were trampled underfoot in a muddy field. 121 people died. Only 50 police personnel were deployed by the administration for the crowd of 80 thousand. 50 policemen were insufficient to control the crowd of 2.5 lakh. The mismanagement of the administration is clear in this.
Justice Yadav had come into discussion by saying fanatics are dangerous..
Justice Shekhar Yadav had said in VHP’s legal cell program in Prayagraj on December 8 – I have no hesitation in saying that this is India and this country will run according to the wishes of the majority living here.
These fanatics, this is not the right word, but there is no avoiding saying it, because it is bad for the country… it is fatal. Are against the country. There are people who instigate the public. There are people who think that the country should not progress. There is a need to be careful with them.
The opposition mobilized after Justice Yadav’s statement. The Supreme Court had also questioned Justice Yadav’s comment. Said- The judge’s behavior cannot be like this. On the initiative of Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal, a motion for impeachment has also been moved against him in the House.
55 MPs supported this proposal. A petition was filed in the High Court demanding rejection of this proposal. Advocate Ashok Pandey had said – The High Court should order the Rajya Sabha Chairman not to take the proposal forward.
The lawyer’s petition was heard in the court on Tuesday. The court rejected the application considering it not worthy of hearing.
