IAS Story: If any work is done with proper guidance, hard work and determination, then no one can stop it from being successful. A similar story is of a female officer, who left no stone unturned to fulfill her dream and ultimately became an IAS. But his journey till here has been full of difficulties. During his stay in Kashmir Valley, he faced problems like political unrest, strikes, curfew and stone pelting. Amidst these problems, he maintained his dedication towards education.
Despite limited coaching, unavailability of study material and newspapers, his hard work paid off and he became an IAS officer in 2015. The name of the person we are talking about is Dr. Ruveda Salam (IAS Dr Ruveda Salam).

IAS Dr. Ruveda Salam belongs to Farkin, a small village in the border district of Kashmir, Kupwara. Despite the difficult conditions of this area and limited resources, she achieved such success with her hard work and dedication, which has become an inspiration for other women. Dr. Ruveda’s father gave her confidence and inspiration, while her mother prioritized her dreams by turning down proposals for early marriage. This family support played an important role in helping Ruveda reach her destination.
Journey from medical to civil service
After completing his medical studies from Government Medical College, Srinagar, Dr. Ruveda (IAS Dr Ruveda Salam) started his career as a doctor in the year 2009. During his internship, he appeared for the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) examination and secured 25th rank. After this he resigned from the medical field to join the State Civil Service.
IPS became IAS
In the year 2013, Dr. Ruveda appeared for the UPSC exam for the first time and successfully became an IPS officer. After training at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad, he was posted as Assistant Police Commissioner in Chennai. However, even after becoming IPS, Dr. Ruveda’s dream was unfulfilled. He took the UPSC exam again in the year 2015 and fulfilled his dream of becoming an IAS officer by getting a higher rank. His optional subjects were Public Administration and Sociology.

Dr. Ruveda Salam (IAS Dr Ruveda Salam) proved that even difficult situations cannot become a hindrance in the path of success. His story is an inspiration for all those youth who want to make their dreams come true. This success story teaches us that with the right guidance, hard work and determination, any goal can be achieved.
