Rahul made this claim at a joint press conference with Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut and NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule in Delhi.
Rahul Gandhi had claimed that according to government data, Maharashtra has an adult population of 9.54 crores while the number of voters in the state is 9.7 crore. There are more voters than the total population of the state.
Rahul accused the election commission in X post
Rahul alleged that 32 lakh voters were added in Maharashtra in five years for the Lok Sabha elections, while 39 lakh voters were added for the assembly elections five months later.
He asked the Election Commission how the voters were added for more than five years in five months?
How were the more registered voters than the state’s total adult population in the assembly elections?
Rahul said that an example of this is Kamathi Vidhan Sabha, where the margin of BJP’s victory is almost the same as new voters were added.
The Election Commission will have to answer these questions and we should provide the data of voters of Maharashtra Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections.
