An encounter is taking place between security forces and terrorists in Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces had received input from suspected terrorists. After this, the terrorists started firing during the search operation. At present the area has been cordoned off.
Officials said that at least two terrorists have been surrounded. The encounter started when 179th battalion of 22 Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), along with Sopore police, were conducting a search operation in Jalora Gujjarpati in Sopore.
On December 19, 5 terrorists were killed in a joint operation by the Army and Police in Kadder area of Kulgam district. Hizbul Mujahideen commander Farooq Ahmed Bhatt was also included in the encounter. Two soldiers were also injured in the encounter.
