Evidence of temple being hidden with plaster, chandelier hung at the bell place: Survey report of Sambhal’s Jama Masjid presented in court, banyan tree, well and artefacts found inside.

Court Commissioner Ramesh Singh Raghav has submitted the survey report of the disputed Shahi Jama Masjid structure in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, to the Chandausi Court in a sealed envelope. This report is of 45 pages. According to sources, the report presented in the court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) Aditya Singh has strong evidence of the existence of a Hindu temple at the site of the structure. This sealed envelope will be opened after the order of the Supreme Court.

According to the information, the report said that there are two banyan trees in the mosque premises, which are usually associated with Hindu temples and are worshiped there. In addition, there is also a well, one part of which is located inside the complex and the other outside. The outside of the well was covered. The survey report included approximately four and a half hours of videography, during which approximately 1,200 photographs were taken.

About one and a half hour of videography was done on 19 November 2024, the first day of the survey. After this, three hours of videography was done on 24 November. More than fifty floral patterns have been identified inside the Jama Masjid. In addition, there are indications of changes to the original structure as well as new construction. The structure of the temple has been plastered and painted.

It is being said that the disputed mosque has symbols which belong to that historical period. Temples and Hindu sites But used to be. The original architecture of the temple has been hidden by plaster and paint on its doors, windows and elaborately decorated walls. An iron chain used to hang the bell in the middle of the dome has also been found. Currently a chandelier has been hung on it.

This type of chain is usually used to hang bells in temples or to hang the pot for performing Jalabhishek on Shivalinga for 24 hours. The report also said that part of the dome has been flattened. About 50 artefacts have been found on the walls, windows and variously decorated walls of the temple. To cover these artworks, plaster has been applied on them.

Court Commissioner Ramesh Singh Raghav said, “On November 19, a petition was filed in the Civil Judge Senior Division Court claiming that the Shahi Jama Masjid is basically the Harihar Temple. The mosque was surveyed the same day. When it could not be accomplished court commissioner Visited the mosque again on November 24 for further survey work along with DM and SP.”

He told, “During this time violence broke out, in which about four people died. The report was initially scheduled to be presented in the court on December 9, but the court commissioner asked for an additional 15 days, citing health reasons. Today a report of about 40 to 45 pages has been presented in the court.” Let us tell you that after the survey, there was an attack by fundamentalists, which caused communal tension in Sambhal.

In Sambhal, action is underway against the people who instigated violence by attacking the police and survey team. So far 50 people have been arrested in this case. Many of these people have been arrested from even Delhi. A police task force has been formed to nab around 90 other people involved in the violence. So far 11 cases have been registered in this matter.

It is said that the Shahi Jama Masjid located in Kot Garvi of Sambhal dates back to the Mughal period. It is one of the oldest monuments in the district. It is claimed about the mosque that it was built by Mir Beg in 1529 on the instructions of Babar. The Hindu side claims that the mosque was built by demolishing the Harihar temple of the Hindus. A petition has been filed in the court regarding this. The survey was conducted here on the orders of the court.
