On the right of an Indian citizen to hoist the Indian flag…
Naveen Jindal from NDTV said that in 1993, I hoisted the flag at my house for the first time. I was 22 years old. But the flag was lowered at my house in the evening of the same day. I was told that we are not allowed to hang the flag at home. There was a legal struggle for 10 years… then on January 23, 2004, the Supreme Court ruled that hoisting the flag is the constitutional right of an Indian citizen. Since then, for the first time, Indian citizens got this right that we can hoist the sacred symbol of the country, the national flag, at our home.

Naveen Jindal said that today people hoist the flag at many places across the country, at homes, in slums and on shops. We formed the Flag Foundation of India to popularize this idea. Today, flags are hoisted at 750 places in different parts of the country.
