Kapil Dev Reaction on Bcci’s Family Rule: In Australia, the Indian team lost 1-3 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. With this defeat, the Indian team was eliminated from the final race of the World Test Championship. The Indian team suffered a 0-3 defeat in the Test series against New Zealand at home before the defeat in Australia. In such a situation, the board had taken cognizance of these defeats and had fixed the guidelines of 10 points for the players. During this time, the board had banned the family from keeping the family with the players and fixed some rules. Many players made statements against this rule of BCCI, in which the latest name is now related to Virat Kohli. At the same time, former captain of Team India Kapil Dev has come in support of Virat Kohli.
Kapil Dev made a statement on family rule
Former Indian captain Kapil Dev has shared his opinion on the ongoing debate with the players on long cricket tours and said that the presence of the family on the tours is important. Under the new BCCI rules, now players can keep the family with them for 14 days in a series or tournament running for more than 45 days. Whereas for small tours this limit has been reduced to only seven days.
Talking to the media during the PGTI press conference on Tuesday, Kapil Dev said on the rules of keeping the family together on the tours, “This is the decision of the cricket board, I say yes, you need a family, but you also need to live with the team all the time. In our time, we used to say to yourself, not to the cricket board, not to play cricket in the first half; In the first half, the family should also come and enjoy it.
Virat raised questions on BCCI’s rule
Let me tell you, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain and star batsman Virat Kohli, while speaking at the RCB’s Innovation Lab Summit, had said the importance of having a family, saying how his presence helps in managing challenging and deeper days on the field. Kohli said, “It is very difficult for people to explain the role of the family … Every time it is getting very difficult outside with you, it is how important it is to come back to your family. I do not think people understand what is benefiting from it.”
Virat Kohli said that by spending time with the loved ones, he gets a chance to be mentally prepared instead of staying away from the pressure of the game and isolating himself after the hard matches. He had said, “I do not want to sit in my room and be depressed alone. I want to be normal. Then you can really see your game as a responsibility.”
During the recently concluded Champions Trophy, the family of players like Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami was with him in Dubai, but he did not stay at the team hotel. Their stay was not spent by the BCCI but by the players. Earlier, even during the white ball series against England, the family members of the players did not stay at the team hotel.
