Farmers Protest: Fierce demonstration by farmers at Shambhu border, new plan for Delhi march, hearing to be held in Supreme Court. News & Features Network

Farmers Protest: The nature of the farmers’ movement in the country has once again become heated. Farmers trying to move towards Delhi from Punjab and Haryana are standing firm on their demands at the Shambhu border. On Sunday, farmers once again attempted to march to Delhi, but this attempt failed due to opposition from the police and being stopped by security forces. The farmers said that the solution to their problems lies with Prime Minister Narendra Modi only, and he should listen to their voices.

Farmers’ Delhi march: efforts and challenges

There was an atmosphere of commotion in the crowd of farmers gathered at the Shambhu border. The farmers had made complete plans to go to Delhi, but the police made every possible effort to stop them. During this time, the police first welcomed the farmers with flowers, but when the farmers did not agree, tear gas shells were released. During this time a farmer got injured and was admitted to the hospital. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher told the media that this behavior of the police is unjust and it is an illegal action to stop the farmers from going to Delhi.

Petition in Supreme Court: Will we get justice?

This matter will be heard in the Supreme Court on Monday. A petition was filed on 7 November, in which an appeal was made to open all the highways including the Shambhu border. The petition also asked the court to order the Central Government and the Punjab-Haryana Government to vacate the national highways. Gaurav Luthra, who filed the petition, said that closing the border is a violation of fundamental rights.

It remains to be seen what decision the Supreme Court will take on this matter. The entire country has to watch with interest what steps will be taken to protect the interests of farmers in the court hearing.

Farmer leader’s sharp reaction

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that we are being stopped from going to Delhi, whereas the solution to our problems lies only with the Central Government. He warned the government and said that if the Center does not solve our problems, we are ready to take even bigger steps. Pandher said while talking to the media, “We are ready for any kind of sacrifice. This movement is not only for our rights, but for the future of every farmer in the country.”

Farmers’ demands: from MSP to compensation

The demands of this farmers’ movement are clear. One of the most prominent demands is legal guarantee on MSP (Minimum Support Price). Farmers want assurance of minimum support price for their products. Apart from this, they are also demanding a fair price as per the Swaminathan Commission report.

Other major demands of the farmers include loan waiver of farmers and proper compensation to the families of farmers killed during the agitation. This movement has become even more intense at a time when the voices of farmers from many parts of the country are uniting.

Security and administration stance

The deployment of security forces on the border has been increased and they have been kept ready to deal with any situation. Police have put up barricades and made special security arrangements to stop farmers from entering Delhi. The tear gas attack by the security forces has further increased the wave of anger from the farmers.

Police officials say that it is their responsibility to maintain law and order and not allow entry of any anti-social elements. But farmer leaders and their supporters consider it a violation of farmers’ rights.

Situation of farmers in Delhi and further plans

Although Sunday was a day of struggle for the farmers, there was no decline in their morale. They are holding meetings and trying to redesign their strategy. Farmer leaders say that they will fight for their rights, no matter what the price has to be paid.

At the same time, farmer leaders in Delhi have planned to make their efforts again in the coming days. He warned that if their demands were not met, the agitation could intensify.

Future of farmers movement: What will be the solution?

Now the question is what will be the future of this movement? The answer will be known only after the hearing of the Supreme Court and the response given by the government. The results of this movement will be important not only for the farmers, but also for the politics and society of the country.

There is an echo of the farmers’ movement in the entire country and due to its impact, there are expectations of change not only in Punjab and Haryana, but in every part of the country.
