A fire broke out in the fair area of Mahakumbh in Prayagraj at around 4.30 pm. The fire broke out in the camp of Geeta Press in Sector 19 near Shastri Bridge. 180 cottages of Geeta Press were burnt in the fire.
According to officers, the cylinder exploded while cooking. After this many cylinders exploded.
12 fire brigades were sent to extinguish the fire. The fire brigade brought the fire under control within an hour. Notes worth Rs 1 lakh belonging to a monk were also burnt.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached the spot and took stock of the situation. PM Narendra Modi also called CM Yogi and got complete information about the incident. Shortly before the fire incident, he had inspected the Mahakumbh Mela area from a helicopter.

AWT, 50 fire fighting posts are deployed for fire operation. 4 Articulating Water Towers (LWT) with advanced features have been deployed for fire operations in Mahakumbh Nagari. These have advanced systems like video-thermal imaging. It is used to extinguish the fire of multi-storey and high-rise tents. LWT can extinguish fire up to a height of 35 meters.
To make the Maha Kumbh Mela area fire free, more than 350 fire brigades, more than 2000 trained manpower, 50 fire stations and 20 fire posts have been created here. Fire protection equipment has been installed in the arenas and tents.
