According to the Pentagon, Jabbar had worked in the Army for more than 10 years as a human resources specialist and IT expert. Jabbar was deployed in Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010. Jabbar earned a degree in computing from Georgia State University. He lived in Houston, Texas. He was working as a real estate agent.
