Snow machine made to deal with less snowfall To deal with the problem of low snowfall in Ladakh, Ladakh Ski and Snow Board Association has developed a snow making machine. Kargil resident Sadiq Ali and his team of 6 members have made this machine. Sadiq said that snowfall has been decreasing for the last few years.

Due to this, skiing events were not taking place. When we talked to experts, we found that ice making machines are used in Europe. Such machines are not available in India. This machine has been created by learning from the internet. It converts small water droplets into ice particles under high pressure. With this, 12 inches of snow can be deposited in 75 square feet area in 12 hours.

Snowfall reduced by 80% due to climate change

In many areas of Ladakh, snowfall has reduced by 80% due to climate change. A local said that earlier there used to be more than 12 feet snowfall here. People used to go out through the doors on the second floor of the houses, but so far this year there has been only 4 inches of snowfall. There may be water problem in April-May due to less snowfall.

Sadiq told that ice dams can be made with this machine. Apart from this, snow fields can also be created on the fields. This snow will remain in winter and will start melting after March. With this, farmers will be able to get water. The machine can collect 12 inches of snow in 75 square feet area in 12 hours. It works well in temperatures of -5°C, so it is being used to make ice at night.
