World Economic Forum (WEF) 60 top politicians from around the world, including US President-elect Donald Trump, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, will address the meeting to be held in Davos, Switzerland next week. Announcing the detailed program on Tuesday, the Geneva-based World Economic Forum said the meeting would be attended by about 3,000 people from more than 130 countries, including 350 leaders of various governments. India’s five Union ministers Ashwini Vaishnav, C R Patil, K Ram Mohan Naidu, Chirag Paswan and Jayant Choudhary and three chief ministers Devendra Fadnavis, N Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy along with other ministers from states will attend.
More than 100 CEOs will participate
Also, more than 100 CEOs (Chief Executive Officers) will attend the meeting. The WEF said the five-day meeting, starting January 20, will brainstorm measures to get growth back on track, use new technologies and strengthen social and economic systems. WEF Founder and Chairman Klaus Schwab said, the Davos meeting is unique in itself. It will include about 3,000 people associated with policy-making from government, industry and civil society. All of them are coming together to solve various challenges facing the world. Despite different circumstances and great uncertainties, this year’s annual meeting will foster a spirit of cooperation and constructive hope, he said. Its aim is to shape the new era in a more sustainable and inclusive manner.
Borge Brende, President and CEO of WEF, said the annual meeting is being held at a time of global uncertainty due to tensions, economic disruption and rapidly increasing climate change. In this volatile environment, he said, the only way to address immediate challenges and open up new opportunities is through innovative and cooperative approaches. Among top political leaders, Trump will join the participants digitally in an interactive session.

Those present in person included European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, China’s Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Argentina’s President Javier MellÃ, European Parliament President Robert Metzola, South Africa’s President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa and Spanish President Pedro Sanchez will attend. Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter, Chief Advisor to the Government of Bangladesh Muhammad Yunus, President of Iraq Abdultif Rashid, President of Israel Isaac Herzong, President of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Palestine National Authority Mohammad Mustafa, President of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will also be present.
