Game Changer Review: Did Ram Charan and S Shankar pass or fail? Is this an Instagram reel?

Game Changer Review

Rajamouli’s film RRR was very much liked. After this film, Ram Charan became a pan India star. But now his fans call him a global star. That’s why RRR got an Oscar and it was liked all over the world. After RRR, no film of his came. Now it has come – the name is ‘Game Changer’. Therefore this film is very important for his stardom. Another person who is very important for it to be good is director S. Shankar. His previous film ‘Indian 2’ not only flopped, but people did not like its content. It was even said that Shankar’s old magic has now been lost. Where has Shankar of ‘Aparichit’, ‘Shiva Ji The Boss’ and ‘Nayak’ gone? Let’s see whether we get that Shankar in ‘Game Changer’ or not. Whether this film could do justice to Ram Charan’s stardom or not.

Tell me how is the film? Since this is mass cinema, it should be seen in that context. Apna has also done the review in the same context. Why, this picture is S Shankar’s epitome of commercial cinema, and we are not saying this. This is what SS Rajamouli has said. Anyway, let’s start.

# Shankar has hammered his style!

If a leader talks about change, he is changed. There is a lot of social commentary in the film. As you might have seen in ‘Nayak’. Or in S Shankar’s other films. The collector is absolutely a hero. He is honest. It’s a good thing. But he also fights. We have seen policemen doing this before in films, here the collector breaks everyone. The ‘Nayak’ style kills everyone in a single day. End of all corrupt people in one day. For example, if something went wrong in a mall, it was razed to the ground within thirty seconds. Everything happens very quickly. Like it happens in ‘Shivaji the Boss’. Just like the character of Paresh Rawal in ‘Nayak’, actor Sunil has played a similar character in this film. By telling all this, we are trying to establish that Game Changer has the imprint of Shankar’s style of cinema. There is also a love story of the collector, which is written with anger. Why are we saying this, you will understand by watching this film. There is some comedy in the film as well.

Instagram reel picture!

Shankar had said that this film has been made in the style of Instagram reel. You will feel this if you watch the film, especially in the first half. The same reel comedy will also be available at some places. Visuals will also be social media centric. Like anger and love meter. This is a fast paced film. The picture plays loudly. A lot of graphics have been used. This breaks the monotony. Yes, but the second half is a little slower than the first half. But it doesn’t make much difference. Still some parts could have been trimmed. Maybe there are too many songs. Good, but excess of anything is not pleasant.

Ram Charan’s Bhaukaal

Ram Charan has a double role in the film amid the tension between bureaucrats and politicians. This was an open secret even before its release. He is a bureaucrat and also a leader. Ram Charan has played both the roles well. He is a mass hero in the true sense. Looking at him it seems that this man can defeat everyone single-handedly. Overall, it is fun watching him in action. The rest of the dances are amazing.

This is also a male dominated picture

Kiara Advani’s work is also good. He did not get much chance to act. The entire film is on Ram Charan only. As soon as Kiara tries to act a little. The director starts making them dance. Her only two tasks in the film are to look beautiful and dance. The problem with such films is that female characters are not given much importance. This is also a male dominated picture. Also, there are some cheap dialogues like ‘Meri biwi toh not worth watching even for a second’.

However, after seeing SJ Surya, we remember Prakash Raj, the work he did in Singham is similar to the work done by Surya here. After this film, he is going to get villain roles in more such loud films. Brahmanandanam hardly comes for 2 to 3 minutes. But on his entry, more whistles were blown than would have been blown even on Ram Charan’s entry. Exactly like what happened with Rajpal Yadav in ‘Baby John’.

Social commentary and subtext of ‘Game Changer’

S Shankar also tries to leave a little subtext and metaphor in ‘Game Changer’. With the help of this he also does social commentary. Fake voting is taking place and Ambedkar’s statue is shown many times. I mean, they want to say that the dignity of the Constitution is being torn to shreds. Corrupt leaders are crushed where many EVMs are kept. There are many ironies in the film. For example, at one place the person distributing money for votes says to save democracy by canceling the elections.

Many people, after watching ‘Jawaan’, said that no one makes mass cinema like Atlee. But that too S. Was Shankar’s assistant. Shankar once again proves Rajamouli’s point true. Hey, the same thing that we told in the beginning – Shankar is the epitome of commercial cinema. But this epitome should bring some reality to the action along with social commentary in its films. Let’s leave all this aside, don’t look for logic, but the film is really great. Go enjoy.
