Third officer of Haryana to become Joshi EC

Dr. Vivek Joshi is the third officer of Haryana cadre to be appointed in the Election Commission of India. The first 1971 batch officer was SY Qureshi, who later became the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), followed by 1980 batch officer Ashok Lavasa, who resigned soon after his appointment.

Will get 2029 elections

After acting as the General Registrar (Ministry of Home Affairs) and Secretary, DOPT (Personnel) of India under the Prime Minister, Joshi is considered one of the good books of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Sources show that he himself has been selected for this important role, as the 2029 general election will be fought under his leadership.

The term of Chief Election Commissioner Dnyanesh Kumar is ending in January 2029 and Election Commissioner Sukhbir Singh Sandhu is retiring in 2028, so Joshi is ready to play an important role in shaping the electoral process.

Rastogi can replace Joshi as Chief Secretary

After his selection by the committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he has now focused on his successor in Haryana. Anurag Rastogi, a 1990 batch IAS officer, is leading the post. A clear picture is expected to be revealed soon, in which Anurag Rastogi is currently the Finance Commissioner, Revenue and Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Finance, Prominent Contenders.

Hence Rastogi’s claim strong

After TVSN Prasad retired on 31 October last year, Rastogi served as Chief Secretary for three days, before Joshi took charge on 4 November. Despite the seniority dispute between the 1990 batch IAS officers, the government kept the dispute separate and the Finance Commissioner was given the role of Finance Commissioner, Revenue – a major post to be handled by the most senior officials after the Chief Secretary.

Sinuality dispute between 1990 batch officials

The issue of seniority among the 1990 batch IAS officers has been the subject of controversy, Ankur Gupta, Anurag Rastogi and Raja Shekhar Wundaru have challenged the current gradation list. He argued that Sudhir Rajpal and Sumita Mishra listed as senior should be really ranked down as they had moved from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir respectively. Gupta has retired, while Rajpal and Mishra are currently ACS respectively ACS , Health and ACS are working in the post of home.

This will be reshuffled by Joshi’s departure

With Dr. Vivek Joshi going to Delhi, there will be a major reshuffle in the top bureaucracy of Haryana. If Rastogi is appointed as Chief Secretary, there will be a reshuffle in major departments, as their current role in revenue and finance will have to be re -handed over. It is expected that the government will finalize Joshi’s successor in the coming days.
