Earlier, the 7th talks with the central government of farmers in Chandigarh were inconclusive. Several leaders, including Saravan Pandher, convenor of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and Jagjit Dallewal of United Kisan Morcha (non -political), were detained.

Farmers were agitating on Shambhu and Khanouri border since 13 February 2024. On 13 February, while going to Delhi, Haryana Police barricaded and stopped them there. He is demanding a law guaranteeing MSP. Earlier, he tried to go to Delhi 4 times but was not allowed to proceed from Shambhu border.

Meeting between farmer leaders and Center in Chandigarh On Wednesday, the seventh round of talks took place between farmer leaders and representatives of the central government in Chandigarh. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Chauhan, Piyush Goyal and Prahlad Joshi were involved in this meeting. The meeting, which started at 11 am, lasted 4 hours, but no solution was found.

In the meeting, the farmers’ organizations were adamant on the demand for the law of guaranteeing MSP (minimum support price). Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the list shared by the farmers may bring some issue. If they want to discuss it with all the ministries associated with farming, it may take time. It was agreed to re -talk about this on 4 May.

In the meeting, the Punjab government had asked the farmers to vacate the border, but they refused. After which Sarvan Pandher, who was returning to participate in the meeting, was surrounded by the police on the Airport Road of Mohali. At the same time, Jagjit Dallewal was returning to the Khanouri border in the ambulance, the police surrounded him in Sangrur.

Some people expressed their desire to go home. So he was sent home after sitting in the bus. We did not need to use any force. Because there was no opposition. The farmers supported well.

7th round conversation was also inconclusive

Earlier on Wednesday, the 7th round of talks took place between the central government and the farmer organizations, but no concrete result could be reached.

The conversation lasted from 11 am to 3 pm, in which apart from farmer leaders, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi were present.

Farmers’ organizations have been adamant on demanding the law of guaranteeing MSP (minimum support price), but the government has not yet given any concrete consent on it. After the negotiations failed, the government decided to take tough steps and the Punjab Police accelerated the process of vacating the border.

After the meeting, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) convenor Saravan Pandher and United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) leader Jagjit Singh Dallawal were taken into custody. These two leaders were leading this movement. The farmers criticized the government’s move and described it as an attempt to crush the movement.

The farmers started a sit -in at Shambhu and Khanouri border from 13 February, when they were moving towards Delhi but the Haryana Police barricaded and stopped them there.
