New Delhi:
A big political controversy has arisen after the lathi charge on the students who were protesting demanding re-conduct of the BPSC examination held in Bihar. Because of this, a police case has been registered against more than 700 unidentified protesters including Prashant Kishore. He has been accused of inciting protests and disrupting law and order.
The state’s main opposition party Rashtriya Janata Dal has targeted Prashant Kishor and accused him of trying to sabotage the protests. Without naming Kishor, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Tejashwi Yadav said that some people have tried to mislead the protesters by posing as the “B team” of the ruling BJP.
What is BPSC Protest?
Since December 13, students in Bihar have been demanding re-conduct of the examination due to irregularities in the BPSC examination. Students say that the exam question papers were leaked. Some say that the question papers were distributed late and some received the question papers an hour after the commencement of the examination. Others say that the answer sheet was also torn. Let us tell you that this demonstration is being held in Gardnibagh, Patna.
call for protest
Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishor joined this protest last week and on Sunday he organized a student parliament at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Irregularities had become common in BPSC examinations and the purpose of this meeting was to find a solution. Immediately after the meeting, the district administration said that Gandhi Maidan is a restricted area and strict action will be taken against anyone breaking the law.
what happened on sunday
Prashant Kishore told the media, “It was decided in the meeting that the protest will not be done by the coaching center or the politicians but only by the students. Gandhi Maidan is a public place and hence there is no question of taking permission. That is not a protest.” We decided at this place because there were a large number of students and they discussed the issues peacefully and there was no problem. He said, “After this it was decided that the students would tell the government about their demands. Two things were decided: We will not do anything that the government will call illegal and we will stop wherever the police stops us.”
march and action
After this all the protesters started marching towards Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s house and the police stopped them. After this, Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena invited him for talks, but he remained adamant on meeting the Chief Minister. The protesters demonstrated for about two hours at the same place where they were stopped. The police warned them to leave from there, but they remained there. At one point some protesters broke the barricade. After this the police lathicharged and used water cannons.
target on prashant kishore
After the police took action, many such videos appeared on social media in which Prashant Kishore is being targeted. Many say that Prashant Kishore had fled from there before the police action. In the evening, when Kishore went to meet the protesters at the Gardnibagh protest site, a dispute broke out there. In a video that has gone viral, Prashant Kishor is heard calling a protester a “completely new leader”. The protestor replied that Prashant Kishore is the leader. At one point the teen is heard saying, “You asked me for a blanket and you’re being rude?” The student replied, “Are you trying to scare us with the blanket?” After this there was a heated argument and the students also raised slogans of ‘go back’. However, NDTV cannot confirm the authenticity of the video.
RJD has shared this video on its official handle. While sharing the video, he wrote, “He thinks that people are his bought staff and he is trying to scare them. This is the market babu of Bihar.” Prashant Kishore told the media that he had left the place before the police action.
