Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Devendra Kumar Upadhyay said that women need more respect than worship. They should be honored. Where women are respected, the gods reside there. We have to change the mindset. Gender equality is still incomplete.
Justice Upadhyay was present in the Delhi State Legal Service Authority (DSLSA) program on Tuesday. The Chief Justice further said that even today women have not received full respect and equality in the society. We need to bring change. The program was also the Chief Guest Supreme Court Justice KV Vishwanathan. Along with this, many Justices of the Delhi High Court were present.
The program was also honored to women lawyers who have contributed well to legal services.
What is Veerangana Project, an initiative for suffering women DSLSA has started the Veerangana project. Under which women are being prepared as para-legal volunteers (PLVs). These women will be involved in legal aid work after two days of training.
The scheme includes sexual offenses and acid attack victims, transgender, women sex workers, children of child sexual abuse (now adult) women, social workers and members of other civil organizations.
DSLSA member secretary Rajiv Bansal said that the selected para-legal volunteers (PLVs) will be paid based on their service period. The purpose of this project is not only to provide legal aid but empower women. Only seven have to ensure protecting their rights.
He further stated that 104 out of 250 women were selected, but 80 women have joined training. DSLSA 4- will celebrate International Women’s Day till 8 March.
Hotel Management Course for Crime Victam Women Under the Veerangana Project, 40 sexual offenses will be given food and beverage courses at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) located in Pusa, Delhi. The fee for this course is 1.25 to 1.5 lakh rupees, but the institute has decided to make it absolutely free. This batch will start from 8 March.
DSLSA is also organizing Job Fair. Where many organizations of hospitality and management sector will provide employment opportunities to women.
