Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) patients have been reported in many states, but Indore, which has become a corona hot spot in the state, does not have the facility to test for this virus. Necessary kit for testing is not available in any government or private laboratory in Indore.
No vigilance is being taken in the city regarding this. Government departments are still waiting for instructions from the government. However, regarding the virus, experts say that there is no need to panic. This is already prevalent. We should remain alert and take precautions.
Symptoms like cold, cough, fever
It usually causes mild respiratory symptoms such as cold, cough and fever. It is similar to the common cold, but it can sometimes cause more serious illnesses like pneumonia or asthma.
Most recover without special treatment
Most people recover without special treatment. Let us tell you that like Corona, the virus will be confirmed through RTPCR, but a separate kit comes for its testing.
Private laboratory sent orders for kits
Dr. Vineeta Kothari said that the Indian Council of Medical Research has instructed the laboratories to be prepared for any situation. Like Corona, RTPCR tests will be done to confirm the virus, but kits are not available.
We have ordered the kit. After this the testing will be done in Indore itself. Although some private laboratories claimed to be testing HMPV, but according to sources they are sending its samples to Mumbai or Delhi.

Pediatrician Dr. Tarun Gupta said that HMPV mainly affects infants with weak immunity. If any of its symptoms are seen, one should consult a specialist. There is no need to panic, but prevention is always better than cure.
